Last week the ole truck met its match... hit some black ice coming over a bridge on my way to work... and had to avoid someone trying to merge on my front bumper...
I kept it out of the Jersey barriers and other cars but ending up meetin up with the guard rail in the center median...
Since last weekend there has been something drawing on my batteries and if it sits for about 5 hours the batteries die. This led me to believe that when the glow plug harness was installed we boogered something up, looked there first. Completely unhooked both ends of the harness and the draw was...
Just wanted to say thank you to DanCrowley for sending me the wiring harness and controller for the 7.3. I got the glow plugs in and everything hooked up now and it is wonderful to be able to start the truck without having to use ether every time!
Just wanted to say thank you for all your...
I purchased new glow plugs today and was wondering if anyone had used champion glow plugs from Napa and if there is anything I need to watch out for with them. Should I return them and get something else or will I be okay with these?
Thanks guys!
Here goes. Since my engine swap I have not been able to figure out a hard starting issue with the 7.3. The glow plug controller is non-existent and has been replaced with a push button.
The video (more of a sound clip) is of the truck attempting to start at about 20 degrees and it's been...
I have the 6.9 that came out of my truck after the 7.3 swap. I have no use for the block and was wondering if it could help anyone out here. Give me a fair price and you can have it.

Alright guys.....
The time has come to swap the old engine for the new one. I have three days to make it happen before Christmas.
The plan is one day to prep the *new* engine, mainly a rear main seal and visual inspection.
I guess I have a few questions before we get this...
Here is the deal. If the truck is driven for a half hour or so on the interstate there is still no heat to the cab. I have check the doors and mixer and they operate properly. i have also checked the heater hoses to and from the heater core and they are the same temperature going into the core...
I am looking at swapping my 6.9 for a 7.3. Mainly because I burnt a ring in the 6.9.
While i have the motor out is there anything you guys suggest I do to it?
What about the trans? It's a c-6 with 187xxx on it and I am not sure if it's been touched. It shifts pretty decent.
Thirdly...
Are any parts on the 6.9 interchangable with the 7.3?
Starter, alternator, vaccum pump, ect.?
I have found a 7.3 that has been stripped down to just the block, and internals. most of the "accessory" things have been stripped off. What do you guys think it's worth?
Thanks for the help.
I have started using some lucas oil additive and fuel treatments in my truck. I was just curious to see what everyone thinks of them.
Any tips or pointers?
This weekend trying to fix the brakes on a buddy's truck we ran into an interesting issue.
Replaced the Pads on the front brakes and the rubber lines but the Left Side is still hanging up and getting hot. The master cylinder is new and it isn't using any fluid.
What could the problem be...
Drove the ole beast from Ohio to PA this weekend and burned off about a gallon of oil......
Any ideas on where it may be leaking from? It isn't leaking out of the engine it is getting burnt and going out the tail pipe. It is clearly visible blueish smoke, even at operating temps...
