Gents,
I am looking to pickup a 1987 F250 which appears to be rust free. It also has a Hypermax turbo on the 6.9l engine. It also has a 5 speed and dana 60 swapped into it. This is the truck I have been looking for for awhile since I believe it to be the best setup for long term usage...
This is in reference to my 2003 but I figure axles are fairly similiar through the years and I know who to listen to over here!!!
On my front dana 60 I noticed on both sides the spindle seals (rubber ring that seals the axle from the elements)
were loose and not holding out moisture.
I...
Is it possible to put 3.07 gears in a Dana 70HD? If so who even makes them?
Just curious to see if my old rig can pu tout some decent numbers. The rig is a C6 and can't get much above 12.5 mpg at 60mph. Just want to do some testing and not really planning to ever pull with it. I got another...
If anyone is interested I have a Lund Visor for sale. It was just removed from my 87 F250. There are a couple of paint cracks but the fiberglass appears to be in descent shape.
It could use a little cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.
Make an offer. Not looking to get rich just want...
Well after 30,000 miles I had a Treadwright tire fail at 75 mph on my 2003. No injury to the passengers but some minor damage to the wheel well.
Truck was not loaded at the time of failure. The tire was located on the drivers front side. Prior to failure I noticed a vibration and within 30...
Well sort of...
I used a little bed liner on the bumpers, grill, hub caps and hoop steps.
The wife gave her seal of approval (I asked her opinions as much as possible) and said she likes it!
I think it looks way better than all crome. The only thing I need to do now is get rid of the...
I am thinking of spraying my 87 with bedliner from a can. Used it on a few odds and ends things with good luck. So far I painted the back drop bumper and the grill.
I plan to do some slight body work and then paint it. I plan to use this as my learning curve for doing work on my 2003...
Spent Labor Day weekend camping with my brother. We drove the truck and took a few pics!
Thought maybe some of you would like to see:
Me without the pickup...a rare moment on this trip.
My brother with the truck. This pass was NOT worth it. The road was...
Alright my 87 is acting up. I must have fried some wires at some point. When I have the key turned anywhere but off, if I hit the brakes the starter cranks. So far its not doing it at speed just when I am either stationary or switching from D to R or vise versa. Not cool. I have yet to look...
Guys,
I just put a different axle in my rig. The driveshaft spun 3.5 times to make the tire turn twice.
If my calculations are right that should mean I have 3.55 gears.
But when I just went out and drove my truck the speedometer still read inaccurately off the same amount that the...
Guys
The axle I traded for (Dana 70HD) has no VSS in the axle. Is there any way to get a working speedo and odometer?
If not thats fine since I will have a GPS in the vehicle. It would be nice to have all the factory gauges working.
Thanks,
Thad
Well, I swapped out my 10.25 with 4.10's for a Dana 70HD with 3.55's. Its super rusty and I need to take the drums off but they are frozen on the hub. Might have to get a puller. Who knew that these ad reverse threads on them? Took me about 5 minutes of pulling, twisting and staring at the...
Guys,
I am dropping the rear axle on my F250. Going to trade for an axle with 3.55's.
I am trying to remove the brake lines from the rear axle of my truck and need some guidance. I found the line that goes to the rear axle but I am not sure if there is a better way to do this.
Any...
Guys,
I am looking to trade only for a 10.25 rearend that has 3.55 gears in it. Mine has 4.10 gears and just revs too high to be economical on the highway. The guy I bought the rig from was going to hook me up but he is unable.
I am in KS but travel the I-29 corridor frequently.
Let...
Alright, my "new" pickup puked about a quart of fluid which is what I added when I realized it was low. Not sure when it happened. Most likely it occured after my last short outing (its not legal yet).
When I check the fluid after driving it, the dipstick has oil on just the tip (yeah...
So I dug under the hood and found that two of my glow plugs are bad (no voltage) and one is weak (only showing 20 volts). I assume this is enough to make the system inoperative?
Should I replace them all or is it fine to just replace the bad ones (as well as all non-Beru/Motorcraft plugs)...
I got the brakes fixed and took the rig for a drive of more than a few feet. It has fairly erratic shifts.
For example:
I have to run the shifter from D to 2 and back to D in order to shift into D. It also downshifts into 2nd kinda hard when I don't think it should.
I have heard of...
Gents,
Starting a new thread to deal with my leaky injector issue...
So I tore into my rig this morning. When running the #8 injector has fuel pouring out through the top of the injector nut. Not a leak but a steady stream of fuel.
I checked and both o-rings where in place. My...
A local guy needs to sell his rig. He is only asking a few hundred dollars since an injector leaks.
Its an 87 with 6.9 rebuilt C6 and 2WD. Its got 330,000 miles but its a 6.9!
Any thoughts? I figure for the money its worth it to have as a beater.
Excited to get back into an IDI!
I...
For those that want an inch or so of lift or more capacity to offset the weight of a winch or plow.
You can get the Ford factory X-Code springs which come standard on the 450 and 550. This wont work for the 05 or newer since they have the coil springs up front.
If you are curious about...
Wife just let me know that the WIF light came on in the pickup. She had just filled up and drove to get some food for the road at Big Boy. While in the drive threw she noticed the WIF light come on. Being a well trained driver (I gave her a thorough briefing before I left). Not real happy...
