    Split injector flare nut

I used a flare-nut crows-foot to replace some of the lines on mine without removing the IP. They are a very useful tool to have with these trucks, since they grip better than a standard crows-foot.

    Cruise Control

Every cruise control I've had, also had a switch on the clutch pedal. One day while forgetting the cruise control was on, I slide the transmission to neutral without using the clutch pedal, the cruise control responded by quickly red-lining the engine.

    Sudden Unexplained No-Start

I had an ignition switch go bad on my 86, it taught me that checking the 12 volts at the cut-off solenoid is only the first step, you need to check it while cranking to be sure. The bad switch had 12 volt in the on position, but would turn off the 12 volts while cranking. This drove me crazy for...

    10.25 Sterling axle nut tool - $12.99

My old seals didn't mark the driveway, they just coated some nice brake pads with grease. Now I am replacing shoes and seals, maybe the bearings. At $32 each I don't want to ruin these seals.

    10.25 Sterling axle nut tool - $12.99

On the Sterling it is a 4 prong with an inner spindle shaft. A standard socket won't do anything.

    10.25 Sterling axle nut tool - $12.99

Just came back from Checker/ O'Reilly auto parts, they have the spindle nut wrench on sale for $12.99, part number 648476. They usually want $26, napa wants $55. What a great time for my truck to lose an axle seal.

Changing the bulbs would be the easiest thing to try.

    Dash Lights Out

Did they all die at once? They could just be burned out. Just to cover all the bases... You know that turning the light switch knob controls the brightness of the dash lights? They do it differently on newer cars.

    Key Switch Bypass

For a $9 part(from Autozone) that is easy to replace, why do so many people want to create a custom solution?

Engine noise after new fuel pump?

This is from a post at another Diesel site, I have an electric pump on mine so I only know about this problem from reading other post: If there is a problem with the lift pump and you are changing it, ensure the new pump comes with instructions as to correct installation procedure if it is...

Engine noise after new fuel pump?

Is this on the 6.9? Is it the new style pump? They need to have the crank in a certain position before installing the pump.

    steering lock...how to defeat?

Try your own keys first, you might get lucky. Driving a fairly large screwdriver in to the lock to rip the pins out of the tumbler usually works good, just a little messy. Try to find someone nearby who picks locks for fun. If your lucky and you just need to move it across flat concrete...

    cruise control

I had one old Ford that if you honked the horn while pressing the on switch it would turn-on the cruise. These older cruise system don't like LED taillights. I don' like them myself, but I live where it snows.

    Moral dilemma

Yikes!!!! 40 thousand miles and 2nd Engine, 2nd Radiator, 2nd Exhaust!!!!!:wtf: And down 4 mpg! I would be un-happy if I had to replace the tires at 40,000 miles. Having to replace all that stuff makes it a Lemon no matter how good it is to drive!

As far as ZFs are concerned...

There is a big difference between the 2-wheel drive and the 4-wheel drive ZF. Those are the only issues I have heard.

Air in the oil line--from WHERE?

I was reading about it somewhere and now I can't find it. About the nut that supports the oil-pump pick-up tube coming loose and causing the tube to crack and start sucking air.

DNE 2 Overdrive....ATTN Joe MC Dieselguy 123, Others help!

Novak rebuilds and sells parts for both the t-18 and 19 transmissions, they also convert them for non-ford applications. They would know about your shaft question. Are you building this truck as a rock-crawler? With the ratios in the t-18 it would be hard to do anything other than run empty...

DNE 2 Overdrive....ATTN Joe MC Dieselguy 123, Others help!

I have always heard that the T-18 and T-19 are the same transmission with just a different 1st gear setup. This page from Novak Conversions may help: Click Here. These are the people I would ask about the tailshafts, they seem helpful. How sure are you that this unit came off a T-19, could it...
