Jasper they are replacement group 65's. I have never found a need for anything bigger. I really am a fan of exides. The ones in our 87 are six years old and going strong, I've even accidentally drained them completely dead and they came back. Plus I got this pair for 110 so that swayed my...
Overdue pics
Sorry for the lack of updates. Been busy with family and work. Got the my new parts installed. Pics of said new parts.
The radiator seemed to be of good quality. I didn't experience any fitment issues to speak of once i remembered the rubber bushings on the side. I will say this...
Little update. The radiator out of the truck was not repairable unfortunately. So i ordered the Champion off Ebay with free shipping. I also found a great deal on a set of 8 Motorcraft glowplugs with free shipping and a new return line kit. So this should take care of the know issues. I found...
So i understand the TDC issue you mentioned. But if the engine isn't turned, and neither is the gear when left bolted to the injection pump. Assembly would be reverse of disassembly. Maybe i'm not seeing it though. I've only done it once and it worked.
I've pulled the gear cover on a 7.3 because we wanted to paint the cover and reseal it. We just rolled it to TDC found the dot with an inspection mirror and then lined up the dot on the IP gear. Was it a pain, eh not the worst but i had a good mirror and penlight. I can see how if you were...
My truck will do something similar. However not consistently. I also know exactly when the cold advance kicks off, the truck will physically slow and quiet down at once.
This evening after work i was able to get the radiator pulled. It looks to be leaking from the top center of the core. I couldn't tell if it was the tank or core itself. I'll call the radiator shop tomorrow and get an idea on a repair. I can buy a new aluminum 3 core from Radiator Supply...
Just picked up a new to us truck. We've been needing a second vehicle for a while since we sold our new truck. Truck spent its life on a family farm local to us who happen to be friends of mine. Truck was the fathers truck that he bought new in 1993. When he passed away a few years back the...
Personally if it was me, i wouldn't feel comfortable about that high side pressure. Most of the A/C systems i have worked on have always cooled best with about 175-200psi high side on a 70-80* day and the low side should pull down to about 10-15psi. Now i'm most certainly no expert, but this is...
I ordered my Diamond Eye PSD exhaust from Summit. Opened it up and was pleased to find that they had put a 98-2003 E series van 4" turbo back exhaust in the box for a PSD cat back. Called up Summit and talked to their customer service manager and he was an ace at taking care of it. He arranged...
Please disregard my first pm Towcat as it was early and i was lacking the coffee in the system to read your post carefully enough. I sent you another pm with the correct info.
Thanks again

Well I sent an email to Dynomax the other night asking about the y-pipes. I was specific in that I mentioned our IDI's and the fact that they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I asked them if they were temporarily out of stock or just back ordered. This is the response i got today.
Thank...
I drive our truck for the sheer simplicity factor of it. There is very few things i couldn't fix/ rebuild on these trucks with my tools. I love the way the idi sounds and the power it delivers for the mpg. I like how comfortable i feel putting my whole family (3 kids and wife) in it and going...
That is what all my searching came up with as well, no one has any IDI Dynomax in stock at the moment, I ordered the Diamond Eye 4" cat back off summit racing for a PSD, so these y-pipes are going to be the finishing touch. Thanks for the tips/help everyone

One thing i had heard, i think over on the diesel stop or someplace, was that the walker parts were not mandrel bent and only exited as a 2.5in and not the 3in like the dynomax. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm trying to put together a new exhaust for our truck to replace the leaky one. I am following the article from another member here who used the Dynomax y-pipes from rockauto but i ran into a snag. No one seems to sell the dynomax y-pipes anymore. Does anybody know if they are out of production...
I always change the oil after the engine has been running at length at operating temp. I usually will take my center punch and punch a hole in the bottom of the oil filter to let it drain and then i will remove it.
I dont have too much experience with all the different brands out there. But in the limited experience i've had, on the farm we have been through many different types of grease. We are members of a co-op so we use alot of CENEX brand products including their grease. I know we went through many...
I think your answer is there. It seems you may want a #2 grease for wheel bearings and anything where there is high speed and load. You can check the manufactures website and they will usually have a note that they recommend this grease for wheel bearings and such. Hope this helps.
Why is it when people spend all that money to lift a truck to impracticality, they wont spend the extra to put a proper steering setup on? It amazes me how much people will spend on a truck in worthless appearance parts and big tires, lift kits, headlights, and then just put a crappy hacked up z...
