i am due for new tires on the 94, still using the stock wheels and 235/85/16's and am curious if there is a slightly taller tire size I can use that will not require a lift and will not rub. I thought I could figure this it but I am having analysis paralysis. Current stock size is 31.7" and I am not sure how tall I can safely go. I am probably going with BFG T/A KO2's.

Does anyone have any insight or suggestions or what has worked/not worked?

The 255/85's look like a good size, just lacking in buying options. I am not sure the 285's would fit the stock rim very well.

I appreciate the thoughts, gives me something to work with.

Would you happen to have a pic of how the 255's looked on the truck?

I had 285-75-16's on my truck with stock 6 inch wheels. When i bought new ones americas tire told me that i needed atleast a 7 inch rim. Found a set on a 01ish E350 van and my stock hub caps work too. No rubbing anywhere with that size

BFG makes several 255/85/16s . mine were mud terrains but they were not the only option. they are aprox 33" and fit your stock 6"rim or the van 16x7"

no lift required I think you even have 8ply or 10ply options now.;Really

The only tire they show in that size now is the mud terrain t/a. It may work for my needs, the truck never goes on long trips and is used in a mix of off road and on road.

Sounds like you want to remain completely stock, but if you move your bumper forward just an inch, it will get you some "almost free" clearance for larger rubber. On my 92, my first set of oversized tires (which I believe were 285 75 16s but I couldn't swear to it as it was a while ago) only rubber in reverse. And bear in mind that was a TTB Dana 50 axle, I think your truck should have a D60 and I am guessing it won't squat as much in reverse as the TTB. My truck ended up with a 2" body lift and 315s, but I would investigate moving your bumper forward if you really want to open up your options.

Good luck no matter which way you go.

I am running 285 75s currently on aftermarket rims. Stock suspension but the bumper is spaced out about an inch. It was done by the PO so it may not be necessary.
They fit fine, but I would be wary of putting them on stock rims.

Thanks, and yes it is a D60. I am not trying to go much wider but taller to drop the rpm's a little on the highway. The 285's lok too wide on the specs but Carrasco's pic of his 285's doesn't look too wide.
