I want to say that the original -100 model was for timing the 6.9 by Lumi method only. The updated -200 came with the pulse adapter so you could do both. This is the -100 model, but it does have the pulse adapter with it, which should make it equivalent to the -200 I believe. Good call to...
FS: IDI timing meter and tools (SOLD)
Hey guys - I sold my IDI E350 well over a year ago now and have finally recovered enough from that to part ways with my tools.
Rotunda timing meter for IDI diesel engines. It has the ability to check timing via both luminosity and pulse methods. I...
This is mine - sold my IDI over a year ago and finally deciding I can let go of my tools:
lumi/pulse timing meter (Rotunda)
pump turning wrench
injector line wrench
injector seat cutter
asking $350 for the group: http://bend.craigslist.org/tls/5417652467.html
thanks
FYI, that chart is for Luminosity timing - it is ATDC.
Also, I recall a thread where one of the guys on the other forum had a built motor and on a trip where he was gaining elevation (went from WA to WY or MT or something if I recall) retarded his timing slightly to accomodate for the...
Cold starting / hot starting any different? How about the sound? Really smooth? It sounds like it is extremely retarded on the timing. Check to make sure the arm on the side of the pump isn't sticking one way or the other when you run the throttle by hand.
I suppose one option is to take off a few of the upper lines to gain better access to the bottom ones, but I'm just not sure that I feel like opening that can of worms just yet.
I've grown tired of having a little more diesel fume than normal wafting in my window, especially while off the throttle and going downhill. I figured I must have some sort of small leak somewhere. I already snugged up a couple injector nuts that looked like they were just damp enough to...
If Russ is busy I'd guess that Oregon Fuel Injection in Eugene would be able to check your timing too, but hopefully you can just meet up with a member in the valley with a meter and get it taken care of.
You can always rent a meter from Gary too.
77f250, with that much additional boost down low have you noticed any appreciable effect on your fuel economy? I realize you still need to have a load on the engine to get the turbo spooled up, but it seems like it is now producing more boost at a lesser load, right?
Nope. And since you are using a timing method via the luminosity probe you will be looking for about 5 deg ATDC. Search timing via lumi method if you want more in depth reasoning behind the numbers.
The GV goes on the back of the transfer case, so the front shaft remains the same as if there were no GV. FWIW, that's what I'm running - C6/NP205/GV. It is a solid combo, but I would love to have a more solid drivetrain connection in a perfect world (ie, lock up TC or manual). If money were...
Do you have any idea where your timing is at on either your rig or your dad's? If not, I'd start there - probably one of the cheaper things to try.
How does your economy compare?
