where do I get a new exhaust valve stem seal installer (plastic thingy)

I installed new exhaust valve stem seals on my 7.3 idi and the plastic protective tubing that slides over the top of the valve when installing exhaust valve stems broke, can someone tell me how to get around buying a whole new set just for the clear plastic tubing. I need to finish the drivers cylinder head.

straw? carls jr has 2 different sizes . First thing that came to mind. Never tried it

A piece of plastic like suggested above could work. Heck a couple of layers of masking tape would likely do the trick as well. I hate to say it, but I've thrown one of those away less than a year ago. If I get my "new" one back from the machine shop when my heads are done, I'll mail it to you. But, I won't have my heads back for a week or two.

If you're careful, they can be installed without it, but a McDonalds drinking straw is the easiest to source.

Bring a valve to a local machine shop to match up the size and ask if you can dig through their trash. Every gasket set comes with usually two of the things. Most machine shops will have a few dozen assorted different sizes in their bin on any given day

I know it's been a while, but did you ever get something that worked? I've got the sleeve if you need it. Got it back when I got my heads from the machine shop.

Thanks for offering the plastic thingy, but Autozone is great and they gave me another gasket set since I have 1 yr warranty on the Felpro set I purchased. Thanks again.
