what size torx bit for rear ujoint ?

What size is the ujoint torx bolt for the rear ujoint?

I think it is a T40.

I think these are after market, ended up being 42's bet they come in all sizes. i went ahead and bought new cap retainers with new bolts which are hex head (easier to find).

That's what I need to do.
A few of mine are slightly stripped.
Not to mention the angle is off trying to tighten them.

i just did mine on saterday and mine were t45

Those bolts are the same as the special hardened bolts that holds the injection pump to the gear. They have the 12 point 5/16 hex on them. Napa sells them in a u joint repair kits. They handle the 25 lbs of torque easily. Never try to use any other bolt for either of these locations. The home depot grade bolts will twist off with the torque needed for a good hold

I bought mine at napa in a ford u joint retainer kit. it came with new cap retainers and new bolts with blue threadlock applied. if those are the original style bolts I wonder if they are original u joints. I think they were spicers.if so that's pretty impressive since she has 230,000 miles on her.
