VSS help

[EMD_DRIVER]

Went to AZ today and got their VSS, that was listed for my 93 F250. When I climbed under the truck, I couldn't find anything that looked remotely like it. The only VSS I could find, was the differential sensor. It has the same electrical connector as the one I got from AZ, but is much smaller and has no speedo cable hookup on it.

I went looking on Advance's web site and found something that looks almost exactly like what I saw in my differential.

The attached picture with three views, is what I got from AZ.

The attached picture with only one view, is what I think I need from Advance.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

The single view shot is of the rear ABS sensor. I believe it also is responsible for your speedometer. Tell them you need a rear ABS sensor. Good luck.

This is for the 93 which has an electronic speedo, so no cable drive.

top pict is correct, only source(and still the best) was ford but now advance does have a imported replacement that may or may not work

In my 91 I have that top sensor in the rear diff.. ABS, and the bottom sensor is the Trans Speedo sensor. both Cable and elec plugins are used on my year... hope this helps

Since I work during the dealership's hours of operation, I'm stuck with trying the Advance alternative. I will post results.... Success, or failure..

Mid '80s to '91 use the diff mount sensor for ABS only, and the tranny mount sensor/cable for CC and the E4OD shift strategy. '92-'96 use only the diff mount sensor for all three things.

I got the one from Advance... Just have to get it in... My future ex-landlord has to come by for an "Inspection"...

Got the right sensor and installed this afternoon. I took the truck for a short test-drive and noticed that the hard 1-2 shift wasn't there anymore.

Noticed something else, on my way home from work this evening.. The TC is now locking up like it's supposed to. I used the manual slider on my brake controller for testing purposes. Brake lights on.... TC would unlock..

Almost... The O/D off light only seems to want to work on cold mornings... It blinked at me for 5 minutes this am.... I am getting there though!!
