Valve Cover Grommet <-- extreme tech

I'm trying to source the left valve cover grommet. Mine is causing my only oil leak. I figure it has to cross to some factory application, but I can't find anything.

If you are looking for the grommett that the CDR valve pops into on the drivers valve cover then you won't get any help from either Ford or ATS. Both have phased practically everything for the IDI out of production..................********.

Go to an International Dealer. They have the goods.

The part you need is listed as a "Hose" by international. The part number is: 1813229C1.

That not what I have. Mine looks like a regular valve cover grommet. That number you posted was definitely a tube. It threads into the middle of the cove. Mine pushes in near the rear.

I bought it just for giggles as it might fit. The grommet that's in mine may not have been part of the ATX. Who knows

if you have a ats turbo than you need to order the hose from ats it is not a ford part, I just ordered one through ats it goes from the cdr valve and pops in the valve cover it was like 40.

I can make what I have work for now. I'm inspired to start making my fresh air kit. I did notice that semi trailer glad hand seal might work. I'm going to swipe a few from my toolbox at work and try it out.

My old one is just over 1/4" thick. The new one is about 2".

The part number I posted was for the part on the left in the top pic and the one in the bottom pic. It goes in the valve cover and the CDR plugs into it. It was $8.35 from international. I have the receipt in my folder. Whoever paid ATS $40 for it got PUNCHED IN THE NUTS. Just goes to show how much prices fluctuate through suppliers. Hell ive seen some local retailers charge as much as $1000 for a stock rebuild on an IP................just ridiculous.

What Mattplumber said. I just ordered the "hose" as IH calls it by using the same part number found in another thread on here, probably from Mattplumber as well. Thanks for that matt. If someone paid 40 for the same piece, get some ice for those jewels ;(

But it doesnt fit my truck. well, it doesn't fit the current configuration

Can someone post a pic?

Do I need to keep the CDR valve when I build my fresh air intake? I was thinking about just plugging in the hose into the intake tube.

Does your valve cover have a baffle built in to it? Or is there simply a hole?

The valve cover that came with my setup has no internal baffle. But last week I saw an old International S-series truck with a 6.9NA motor that had the CDR setup on the driver's side VC and the VC had a baffle spot-welded inside. From what I could see, the baffle looked just like the one in our valley pans.

My worry is that no baffle = lots of oil thrown into the CDR and then into the airbox.

No baffle, just a hole in the rear of the cover. The tube fits the hole if I turn it upside down soothe threads point up.

How much blowby is normal?

I paid ats for it but that isnt the part I thought he was talking about the hose that goes from the valve cover to the cdr which has been on the truck since 1987 so I dont care to spend 40. for a new one

I just saw the long ford version of the grommet and tube online at a couple of places last week for under ten bucks.

If you don't have baffles, you can sure take some sheet metal and bend a set up and weld them in easy enough
