Get back in there and crank it up to 3 flats, and see how it does for EGT's and power and desired smoke effect. and back it down as needed.. I think most people say on an N/a your safe to stay at 2.. but ive seen someone who runs 4.. but watches the guages like a hawk :p

well thats the thing i have always had plenty of black smoke, but my egt gauge never get above 750 ever! i also painted my manifolds with some 500 degree engine paint and it hasnt burned off yet, and i also havent seen my gauge go above 400 yet since i painted my manifolds so is my gauge right:dunno but i am able to take off in second gear now and never touch the throttle i couldnt do that before i turned the fuel up:sly

well if u havent burned the paint off.. you should be able to raise it up some more! lol yay!

what are these engines good to 1250 max? make it so you can see 1050 max on extended long pulls and you will be set. with a good margin left over. Crank it up some more.. you cant hurt anything if u watch your guages... well only your mileage lol

hmm.. prob as best as you can get to combined exhaust gasses eh? log manifolds are a pita for pyro's. well.. Maybe that's an indicator that your number 6 is being under fueled? lol i dunno.. you'd think being right in front of one exhaust port would actually give you a little higher reading, yet yours says you running quite cold.. i mean isnt the minimum temp for diesel to ignite like 320F? or something?

If you don't trust that old gauge, get a new one as soon as you can afford it. Did you put the gauge in, or did it come with the truck? I had a N/A truck that Pyro read consistently 200 degrees lower than the actual EGTs. The pyrometer is one gauge NOT to cheap out on, unless you want a 6.9l anchor for your boat!;Really

That could be your problem right there?:dunno or maybe where you put it? Ive always thought towards the end of the manifold closer to the collector is the best place to put it so your getting the temp of all 4 cylinders on that bank.

Just my .02 Cents

i dont know that i would really trust the paint as a good indicator, it could last into the higher temps even though it is not rated for it. sounds like you have some more room to play assuming all your injectors are good.

how is the timing?

timing well its timed to were it has a good psd rattle when the timing advance is on but when its off it acts like it still kinda wants to rattle like that, cause i have no way of timing with a meter

i turned my pump up about 1 to 1 1/2 flats. it doesnt smoke anymore then stock but it has plenty of power and runs so clean, it even helped maximize my fuel ecomony to where i can get 22 mpg on the highway. i dont have a pyro in yet (sitting in a "to do" box) but i dont think it gets to high.

Opti, as long as you keep your foot out of it you should be set! That's cool that you have found a good balance of power and economy :)
