99 is the dead headed system. Both of yours ran mechanical lift pump. Comes from the tank to the 1st stage of the lift pump (low pressure) through the filter to the secondary (high pressure) side of the lift pump, to the heads at the rear, out the front of the heads into the fuel pressure regulator. Some will go back into the fuel bowl, most goes back to the tank.

i don't know much at all about this engine, idi i know very well, i need to find out where to tap in for oil pressure, fuel pressure and engine temp as i don't trust 22 year old gauges,
what is normal fuel pressure from lift pump, ? I want to go to electric pump

Stock mechanical will bounce around between 55-70 or so. For pressure gauge, tap into the side of the filter where the Schrader valve is.
For oil pressure, remove the stock oil pressure switch from the top of the hpop reservoir.
Engine temp can be taken from a few different places. Could remove the factory temp sensor or the over temp switch. (In water pump)
