This is the only scout ever made that has the Nissan SD33 T engine. Runs and drives fine and has 40,306 miles on it. I have no idea what the real miles are. Please give me a call at 408-727-9040 for more info. Turbo Diesel International Harvester Scout Scout II Traveler

true.
it was only avail one year maybe two years.
Nothing to write home about, iirc "the Warden" said it was pretty anemic on the power.

The only scout with that engine cookoo

78-79 they used the NA engine, 80 they used the turbo, the engine isn't rare, quite common in fork lifts and air craft tugs ;Sweet

The SD33T is the Turbocharged version of the SD33 engine and was used in 1980 for the powerplant in 6400 International Harvester Scout II's. All were equipped with a T-19 manual transmission. From July 1983-1987 SD33T engines were fitted to the Nissan Patrol MK (160 series - model 2).

pretty neat stuff...

Is that a grouse (garage house) in the background? Did you build it?

I had a rusted out '79 that looks like the one for sale here.

Wow, 92Hp non turbo and 101 turbo. Thats pretty sad. From what I understand, the scout is not exactly a featherweight either. Nor is that engine at over 600 lbs.

Our 4 popper ranger has 86Hp stock but probably can squeeze a bit more out. With some tweaks it can do 100.

Everyone knows old diesels were anemic. Everything was back then. '82 vette--like 180hp, right? On the flip side, didn't that heavy scout get 20+mpg right out of the gate? Better than most new suvs. Man, just think where we would be if early diesels made it. Scouts do rock!!!!

careful we have guns.....lol

We will defend our salt free California iron to the end.

All kidding aside, I wonder why it has not sold? It's been up for about 2 weeks now. 80' would be the one I would want with the turbo and 4 speed. Hate the square headlights on that one, I'd change it to round to make it look a little older.

Price is way high, it looks pretty rough, lots of trim missing, if that transfers to what you can't see it may not be very well cared for.
