replaced tach sensor but still no tach & E40 D limp mode

started with intermittent tach failure followed by E40 starting out in 2nd gear. next time i started '93 7.3 idi tach worked tranny was fine. 3rd time no tach and wiggled sensor wires and tach came on. so i replaced the tach sensor and still have dead tach. next step? many thx for any help

Check the ice cube solenoid for power supply to tranny. If it goes bad tranny goes in limp mode plus it Powers other things like I think maybe the tach ometer.
