Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments.
I'll wrap up lights today...then I can shift towards some final thoughts on side boards or NOT??? uncertain as of now. I think I'll throw a couple of side boards and fab a drop in tail gate that sits at two or three different spots, I have an idea but not really able to articulate it well.
I am thinking just notch side boards and have a board drop down into the notches in essence. Either one board to several segmenting the deck/box into sections... I can add my big ass concrete weight and have it locked into location then just strap it down! I like that idea

Here i was hoping for wood hinges.
I would probably screw a pair of vertical boards on each sideboard where I wanted my tail gate to go. I would space them 1/2 or an inch off the deck so they don't get packed with debris

Not sure what you mean about that...
Still uncertain what I'm going to do side or no side boards...stops freight from sliding off I suppose...kinda helps keep things legal!
So finished up some cheap tail lights, Rose my SUPER WIFEY as LCAM puts it....brought me a trailer light kit from black friday shopping...
I also threw on some stubby mud flaps to again...keep it um...legal...I need to find a couple more for in front of the rear wheels to keep the scuz from flying forward.
I tapped into my trailer wiring for the tail lights....turned out ok good nuff for me anyway...

Yes, put side rails on it. And a head board. Don't want anything sliding into the cab.
Did you run a ground wire for the lights off of the mounting screws? The lights I have on my steel bed are similar to those and they have to ground through the mounting studs on the back of the lights.

Lights Grounded via wire run to them to the mounting stud...gotta get some ring terminals..for short run...just wrapped bare wire...I can't beleive I'm outta rings...but I am...helping people...whom don't bring supplies...UGH
I'm giving thought to side boards...DOG box goes back on behind cab, that's kinda why there is not a forward rack...PLUS! I'm going to cut that front 22" off when I get super cab so no major structure to build till then!
Thinking 3x3" angle along deck edge pointing down then cap that with side boards! that keeps stuff in and has a nice metal edge to hook straps too for tie down of load...least that's my thinking...rofl...hard to say...

The angle is a good idea. I was wondering how you were going to use straps on that wood.
I know with mine I loved/hated the flat. Room for big loads but having to tie down every little thing drove me crazy. Then I acquired some 2x12's and threw together some sides and a tailgate. Nothing special or pretty, just some 2x4's shaved to fit the pockets and the 12's bolted on. But they made a world of difference. I can now haul my lawn mower and weed trimmer with out having to mess with straps.
One thing about wood though, it's a hell of a lot easier to cut and fit than steel!
And I agree on the chrome!

Nope not a seat belt, it's a 1/2 a hose...cut so I can use it as a protector for tank straps when I install rear tank...Good eye

Oh I see....I thought you might be referring to some type of flip down sides with a hinge...no idea...

Got some more stuff done, a few days ago I ripped the sides down so it's not wider than the cab and today, the deck was fully bolted down and then I threw up some side boards. The side boards are held down/on with 3 x 6" 3/8" lag bolts up from the bottom and then for L brackets with screws into the deck and the side boards bolted to L brackets with carriage bolts.
I'll add in some stops and make some dividers for sectioning off the deck.
I'll add some pics later, phone wasn't with me and it started to snow...damn, no weight makes it almost impossible to drive,
5th gear on the hiway and hammer down...spins the truck out! EEK
I just stuck in in 4x HI and I was golden!
Anyway, I'll add some pics and then I think I'll have to get the concrete block back on the deck!
