I will update with a backstory later this week.

I purchased a semi completed (more or less) 1987 single cab 4x4 f-250 last year from a coworker. it has a banks non wastegated turbo kit, rebuilt c6, ARP head studs and a few other goodies. got it for $2000

I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to start piecing this beast back together. I did not take it apart and I am not familiar with these vehicles. The original plan was to have my coworker help me and get it running in a few weeks. He has since fallen off the face of the earth and I am on my own (kind of a blessing because he hangs with very shady people)

Any how. now I have a donor truck to use as a template as well as suply all the little odds and ends. as a bonus there are some goodies on the donor truck that I can clean up, sell and make more than I purchased the whole truck for. (Has same banks kit, 4spd manual with GV overdrive, 4x4, nice interior and a few other things)

So I will do my best to document my progress of this journey into the IDI realm.

Been working on the electrical off and on when I can find the time (been a very hectic 8 months for me)
Found tons of broken connectors and pushed out pins that I was able to fix thanks to the donor (who will be referred to as Ole Blue from here on out)
Also rewrapped the interior dash harness and fixed a few wires and a connector there too.

I will try my hand at a diy tutorial write up on how to disassemble electrical connectors (if it hasn't been covered yet)

Below is the dash harness how it came off the dash, and after repair.

Was doing some organizing and cleaning and found these ****** berries.? These will be the eighth and nineth connectors to be swapped out. They are the first however to be all siliconed. The other connectors that i replaced were broken or had pushed out pins.
Wouldn't it be easier to just solder or even crimp than do this? I can't imagine supporting that while it dries. To each their own I guess.
So I will swap these with Ole Blue tomorrow.

Geeze. That's the wrong wiper motor. That's why they needed to adapt it. If you can peel the goo off and get the right wiper motor you won't need to replace them maybe.

I swear I was just going to remove the headlights...

Found a little rust on the core support where the front of the wheel wells bolt too. had to grind off two bolts cuz they were seized.
Going to inspect the core support on the donor when I get back from picking up a tailgate. pictures to come.

Got the donor core support 97.2% ready to come out. only have to drain and remove the rad.
It looks ever so slightly bent but I won't be certain until tomorrow. also has a bit of rust where the wheel wells bolt to the support (common I assume)
Well that's it for tonight.

The one on Donna has a fat dent and holes drilled ithe.
I might just turn it into a wall hanger or a table.

Here is the dented tailgate... it's amazing what people want for a used tailgate on Craigslist. dented, scratched =$200-400 in my area.

Today I drained the coolant and removed the rad from Ole Blue. removed the core support.
Started sanding some surface rust on Donna's frame, where the core support sits on its mount. Sprayed the ttb with some gunk degreaser.

And I found a surprise in the water pump pulley...(see photo)

Any reason not to remove the fiberglass pads on the fenders and wheel wells? I hate fiberglass.

I do.
But one was soaked in power steering fluid. And I just don't like the dirt they collect. Lol
Have also taken some out on the jetta. But on that, those are rust makers.

Yes. they absorb oil like a sponge.

I forgot to post a photo of he other surprise I found...
One of the engine mount bolts is MIA.
Thinking about just getting new mounts while I'm at it. this one has been sitting all **** eyed for at least three years (God knows how long) I'm sure the mount is no bueno.
