Probably a stupid question...

Is it possible to make an exhaust brake out of a cable operated exhaust turn out? If it is possible, how effective would it be on a non turbo engine?

If you can make it work, then it's possible. It shouldn't matter if the truck is turbo or n/a. An exhaust brake should have the same effect.

Just watch how much back pressure you give it because you can force the valve open (exhaust). I don't know what poundage the stock exhaust springs are but if you drill a hole (or a series of holes) in the blockage plate you can adjust the backpressure on the system.

But it should work without a problem just remember that these things might be a little tough to operate because they live in a harsh environment.

How do I figure out how many holes to drill in the blockage plate? Is this even worth it, or am I throwing time and money away?
