^^^^^^ My take on it - the engine was designed / built before the advent of ELC. The later ones were likely re-engineered with ELC chemistry in mind. But as long as I've got the original injectors, etc., I'll stick with the chemistry that was used at the time.

But yeah, a document from IH or Ford, specifically referencing the OBS generation, would clarify.
