Please explain THIS one to me...

So we have had sub zero temps here in WI. The first morning I had the truck sitting outside overnight, actually had to use a tiny shot of starting fluid to start it. Started up but smoked a TON!!

I have a good friend with an 07 F350 diesel and he recommended putting an appropriate amount of 2 stroke oil in each fuel tank to assist in injector lubrication with USLD fuels. I put in 2 OZ in each tank and filled her up with that ULSD winterized crap thats around here. Since then each start up is easier , barely any smoke and I have tons of power not to mention the truck is ALOT smoother overall, like a new truck.

I am perplexed..

I think I'd be checking them glowie pluggies...
I replaced mine about two years ago, but I think I have to have to do it again, as it smokes like a freight train on startup.

At least on the 99-02's, Ford runs the glowplugs after for up to two minutes, for smoke control.

Reduced friction, smoother running....That's about it....I would check the GP's as well, can't hurt to verify their operation.

ether/starting fluid and glow plugs dont mix... if you dont use much, you wont do major damage, but the ether sticks on the glow plugs and burns the tips off... even just one shot can do it... try the stanedyne additives. my fords and duramax love them... they make several kinds for different situations and pump/injector styles...

I need glow plugs anyways, Was that way when I aquired the truck. I have not dont them yet because I figured I should put new valve cover gaskets and harnesses on at the same time with 293K on the clock..
