My girlfriend got the mail today, and my injector cap set from Typ4 came! I was excited as hell, like a kid on Christmas morning lol...I couldn't get that box opened up fast enough! Thanks again to Russ for supplying a good quality, complete kit!;Sweet

The truck's maintenence records are pretty much unknown, and I have never changed a cap set before. Do I loosen the flare nut on the pump as well as the nut on the top of the injector?

I will be buying a set of crowsfoot flare wrenches for my ratchet if that's the case.

Should I change out the injectors now as well? On a cold start it puffs a little blue smoke until it warms up. She seems to have a bit of a miss for the forst 2 or 3 seconds now, and it didn't last year. AFAIK the pump is factory as well. This thing should run like a top when I replace it all...it works good now, I can't wait to see the change!:sly

If the injectors are factory, I would guess with 260K plus on them they are probably ready. If you are going to do that, put the kit back in the box (I know it will be tough) get Russ to send you a set or injectors too! Imagine how excited you'll be when that box shows up! :)

a baby moose pump is OEM specs. its not a hot rodder but you will def feel a performance difference(i dont actually know though i wish i did) it shouldn't over fuel at all unless you turn up the screw.

I think the baby moose would be fine, but I'm not that familiar with them. I've read about every post about them and figure the full blown moose pump would overfuel, but probably could be turned down to work until you get a turbo if that's your plan, if not, I'd talk to Mel about the baby moose.

I would LOVE to send Mel my spare pump (s), and have it full out moose-ified, but I fear melting the motor to the framerails without a turbo and intercooler. I have dreams of oneday owning a turboed, moosed and intercooled truck as my DD....maybe I will moose it this spring and just turn down the delivery screw until it's time to break some drivetrain parts lol.

You should be fine just removing the lines from the tops of the injectors. If you need extra room or are going to change the injectors, remove the clamps from the lines. That will give you the wiggle room needed.

I'd keep the old return lines/caps intact removing them. That way, you have a template for making your new return lines/caps.

If the IP and injectors are original, then yes, replacing them will make a significant performance improvment.
