Traitor to the brotherhood
First off, sorry to the moderators but from previous experiances, the IDI folks seem to have more answers than other.....guess since we have to actually use wrenches on our engines, not soldering irons and Multimeters....
Has anyone out there ever put a 300 I6 gasser in a jeep.Thought about getting a 1974 postal jeep(DJ5) with blowed up AMC engine(they are asking $500 with VG body).Found a 84 300 with 3Spd tranny out of a truck for $200.I know the 300 is 8" longer than the 242AMC.Has anyone ever attempted to do this?Looking for a cheap replacement for the Falcon(F250) and don't want a cookie cutter car.I want something more....Me!Something I can tinker with on the weekends that gets decent fuel mileage(said decent not great!),Don't mind getting the interior dirty(Work in a machine shop cutting cast iron....Lots of dust, grease, oil, unknown slime!),and won't feel bad if I cut a hole or two for special additions(Muh Ha ha ha ha).
Lastly,Anyone know what was hooked to the back of a 300 in 84 with 3 gears?Mechanical,Hydrolic, internal, external actuated clutch fork(which one?)?
