Looking at a 92 F350 Crew Cab long bed 2wd n/a with E4OD. Clean one owner truck paint is just faded.

I'm not buying it expecting 20mpg but what mpg should I expect unloaded cruising and pulling say 6-8k horse trailer and tach?

Mostly flat and rolling hills around here so I shouldn't need alot of power for this. Mostly just a rodeo rig.

Just for a reference, I averaged 13mpg hauling firewood for about 2 months last year in my slug. Thats maxing out it's carrying capacity regularly, driving on the logging trail, up and down hills, long idling times, etc. That was when it still had an e4od.

Rear axle gear ratio will be a huge determining factor.

I'm guessing it has 4.10's. I won't be doing 70mph often mostly just going small town to small town.

I only drive 60mph in my duramax. I'm not usually in a hurry

Yeah mine is 4.10, 75+ is kind of uncomfortable but it will hit 85 with room to spare. Still surprises me how good it is on fuel compared to it's gasoline counterparts. My buddy has a 79 c30 with a 350 and he gets about 7mpg just driving around town.

I'm going to put 255/85s on the rear to reduce rpms a little bit but if I get 15-16 unloaded and 10-12 pulling a 16x6 bumper pull with 2-3 horses and a bed full of tack I'll be happy.

I've got a wife and 2 kids with one on the way to squeeze in and my duramax is loaded up with tools and weighs 14k by itself so I don't want to use it for horse stuff. Too many sticky fingers and the truck only gets 13-15mpg with out a trailer as is due to weight and wind drag. Otherwise I have 3 single cabs and for some reason that would be a tight squeeze with the full crew

I know you can get that mileage with a turbo and a lot more HP than stock, so I'd estimate that you could do that easily if the engine is in good tune.

I'm averaging in the 15-16s unloaded(but I drive 65-75 on the highways), and 10-ish with a trailer, especially one with a nice large frontal area.

I think the lowest I've /ever/ averaged in an IDI was 8, with a massive trailer load(far more than the truck was rated for <_<) and a lot of hills.

Engine is in great shape with an industrial injection IP and rebuilt injectors with new glow plugs and controller. Sounds great and doesn't smoke except if you completely floor it. It's been babied it's whole life but has towed. Driven by an old man most of its life.

Well just by driving slower, you should get a little bit better mileage than by driving 70 all of the time. Since these were built during the "bad old speed limit 55 days", you should probably get the best mileage driving 55-60. I've seen it said that they get the best mileage around 2000 rpms.

With 4.10s, 5 speed, and 7200lbs unloaded I average 13-16mpg and that's with lots of stop and go in-town driving. On a long highway trip--700 miles--I averaged 16 mpg with average speed of 65mph on mostly flat terrain. 4.10s definitely suck at modern highway speeds but when carrying a heavy load I am sure glad I got 'em.

Here's a screenshot off my phone from where I record my odometer and fuel mileage. The (axle swap) was when I pulled the 3.07 Dana 61 and put in a 3.73 sterling 10.25

I'm jealous of some of these guys. I just bought a 92 that runs great but only gets 12-13 tops. 4wd/ZF5 w/250k and had the pump turned up by the PO so not a direct comparison to yours.

My pump is turned up 2 flats. I'm very avid about letting my water temp come off the bottom of the gauge before I take off. Aftermarket with 120* as the lowest number. Usually running late for work and stupid drivers can't help my mpgs either. I guess never getting over 18 is understandable with all that said. Once I topped off at the edge of town and drove 30-35 miles at 55mph babying it then topped off at the next town and averaged 30.1mpgs
