lazzy truck

hi all my 88 f350 was stored in a heated garage from 1990 untill now the truck was my fathers and i purchased it from him. i have been driving the truck for the past several months the truck works a ton better than it did a few months ago. today my father decided to jump in and take it for a spin he said that he felt the truck was very lazzy and didnt even work as good as it did without the turbo. so my question is what are things that could be affecting this dirty injectors? stuck valve? the truck runs fine and sounds very healthy but just doesnt want to get up and go? any suggestions would be great thanks

even with 35s those are really low gears... should jump outta the hole good and scream going down the highway. if it doesn't put out any smoke, turn up the fuel some to equal out the added air supply you've made with the turbo.

there is a huge difference between na and turbo idis though. maybe he's just remembering it being faster than it actually was?

how many miles on the engine?

Hey wait dude, you are in Halifax? Finally, I KNEW there was more of us east coasters out there. If worse comes to worse, and it needs work, I have a shop not far from Halifax (exit 8 off the 102) and BigRigTech is also not very far from you.

If I was you, I would get me a bottle of Howes Diesel Treat (parts for trucks in ragged lake, and on wright avenue sells it for about $14 a bottle), a new fuel filter (about $35) and a couple bottles of beer.

Consume the beer while you remove your old fuel filter, fill the new filter (baldwin BF1222SP is the part number for the filter I run) with the diesel treat and put the filter back on, dump the rest of the howes into teh fuel tank, and start the engine. Let it idle for maybe a minute or two (to let the straight howes get into the pump and injectors and shut the truck down for a couple hours to let the howes soak into the crap in the pump and injectors.

I ALWAYS run Howes in my truck. Diesel kleen is good too but it costs about $20 and it don't last as long.

Well, you know what you need to do now....get us some pics of that truck! AND FOR GOD SAKES UNDERCOAT IT BEFORE IT RUSTS!!!

No worries boys truck was undercoated to **** lol i dont mess around with that and ill post picks of it when i get home its dirty now and only gonna get worse with the snow tonight. I just want this thing to properly thus is proof that somethi g sitti g for so long isnt the best i guess haha

man, I wish my truck had 22500 kilometers on it....I JUST rolled 500 000. You haven't got a THING to worry about as far as that truck lasting! With the spare engines, spare parts, and whole trucks that bigrigtech has and the spare parts I got, you shouldn't ever have to buy ANYTHING new again for one of these trucks.

I was going to buy a COMPLETE turbo kit from Darrin, but the way money is right now things are tight. Then BigRigTech decided to go with a cummins for his dually, and a COMPLETE 7.3 IDI turbo engine fell right into my lap for a SMOKIN' price. I am going to remove it from the truck it's currently sitting in, bring it home and totally go over it 100%. New gackets, new exhaust manifolds, new studs, head studs, new oil pan, new water pump, EVERYTHING....then bolt it in my F250.

I used to live on the bedford highway, but I couldn't handle the city anymore. I moved just outside of elmsdale in Nine Mile River.

When my E4OD kicked the bucket last fall, I managed to find a ZF from a PSD (the heavier rated ZF....S5-47) and EVERYTHING to do the swap for $1100 plus taxes from Bill Lawrance automotive in Beaverbank. Last I checked, he still had a couple trucks kickin around with ZF's in them. If I had EVERYTHING ready to do on the floor, I could do an E4OD to ZF swap in a day or so. I have all the steps outlined and pics in a thread I did a while back.....not a big big job at all.

Do you have ANY mods done to the truck besides the lift and tires? I suggest a half decent set of mechanical gauges (boost, pyro, water temperature, oil pressure and volts) to monitor things under the hood. The factory gauges are nothing more than idiot lights with needles....litterally.

I need to buy a good boost, and pyrometer for my truck when I do the turbo engine install. If I blow up my NA engine, I am not too worried. I think that when I get my turbo engine ready to install, I am going to find out EXACTLY what a non turbo engine can take before it blows!

I am usually in toen monday to friday. I drive a dump truck out of dexter's rock quarry in bedford. If we get a fresh snow fall though, I am home. I used to plow snow for a company in Burnside, but the money wasn't right for the work I had to do.

If you call looking for the transmission, ask for Dawson. He's the man you want to deal with, he knows what and where EVERY vehicle in that yard is and had on it.

Ahhhh right on i just called and they guy there said he had nothing i did just ask for a standard transmission for an 88 f 350 diesel should i call back and just ask for a zf 5 speed?

Well, Anything fron 1987 - 1997 will bolt up. The clutch won't work from a PSD though, I had to go look around at some of the trucks in the yard until I found one, but dawson told me where to look and at what trucks. He said they had 2 ex GCR tire trucks with 5 speeds in them....I got one in my truck now.
