Info on 6000 series Spicers?

Anybody have experience with 6000 series Spicer 5 speeds? I'm going to look at one this weekend (if work leaves me alone). It is an overdrive version. The tag is messing, so I don't know for certain which 6000 sereies model it is.

It will be used for my DT466 project. I've found a list of all the different ratios that were available for the 6000 series, but I have no idea what the torque rating or the reputation these trannies have. I do know it was in a GMC medium duty truck with a 671 Detroit.

Heath, Try the Roadranger web site which is Eatons site for all there drivetrain information. I don't know the specific web address but I am sure a search will lead you to it. I changed computers and lost a lot of my favorite links. The Swap in my truck was with an FS5306A transmission, Which is a 6 speed. your 6000 series should be a FSO6305 style transmission if I remember the numbering correctly. The 6000 series is a heavier duty version than the 5000 series that I have from my understanding.

there a couple 5 speed spicers on western ky craigslist dont know what they fit. one is $200 and the other is $500

You should be able to tell the ratio of each gear by counting the input shaft revolutions to turn the output shaft 1 time. Overdrive should be less than 1 turn.

Never mind. I picked up an Eaton Fuller FS-6306A. I'll convert it to an FSO-6306A (overdrive).
