Ignition Switch Adjustment

So, it seemed to start my truck I was turning/rotating the key more and more to the point it had me concerned, like I was over working-stressing that actuator piece that is known to break. (I hate replacing that dang thing, and have a spare)

So, I lower to column and loosen the two set bolts and move the switch back up towards the steering wheel about 1/16" and the key now starts the truck earlier in it's rotation. (much better)
Oh and I squirted some WD40 in the switch too...made it much easier to engage

However...when I rotate the key 'back' to accessories, nothing works...I can't win for losing!

So how much is a new 4x4 4-door F150 King Ranch?

Expensive! I have something similar going on with Bruiser. I just turn the key on when I need power, but with the IDI, your FSS will heat up. Of course my pump is powered in the accessory postion as well on the Enterprise. Not sure if it's supposed to do that...

What shape is your actuator rod in? Could be bent or slop in the pin between it and the cast aluminum piece.

I'd replace the switch on top of the column (if you haven't lately) the plastic the actuator rides in gets worn & sloppy.

I'm the original owner...ignition switch has never been replaced.
Once unbolted from the column is the long rod easily removed from inside the box? I have no idea what's going on inside that box or how the long rod attaches.
Got a ford part # for the switch?

I did a search "Ignition Switch Adjustment " and got pages of nothing for the adjustment.
I'm willing to accept the OE switch may be tired and sloppy and willing to replace it but again I ask, can it be replaced simply by removing it from the column or does that fricking actuator have to come out too?

The rod doesn't have to be disconnected from the column, it basically just drops into the switch.

I just replaced my keyed ignition switch and the actual ignition switch, got the parts from Rock auto, took about 20 minutes to replace, taking my time. Parts were cheap too (motorcraft parts are even cheap).

Thanks for the feedback and links, printed out the adjustment and also searching eBay for the "ford" switch...glad to know the switch just drops down onto the rod > > > didn't want to fu*k with the actual actuator rod under the steering wheel (yuck)
