I finally got the engine out and started tear down. I was curious to find out if I was justified in havung purchased a rebuild. This is what I found.

Keep in mind I don't know true mileage.

I found snapped head studs and coolant in the cylinders on the passenger side. This justifies me having got the rebuild. Upgrading the stud, springs, and adding a turbo [emoji16]. That's what I tell myself anyway. Based on these photos does this engine need a full rebuild or just new gaskets and new studs? I'm probably selling the parts...just curious.

Hmm, a rebuilt doesn't necessarily mean a good rebuilt. The good news is the internals look really clean, and it has the upgraded valve rockers from the 7.3. Tear it down, inspect and measure. It might just need head bolts and gaskets. If I was doing it, I would use ARP head studs, especially if you are thinking of turbocharging it in the future.
