governor spring swap

figured i would bring this up considering most of us just ***** that uhaul store for everything they had (aaahemm erm...Oldbull *cough cough*). then after some searching and asking i learned that all the IP's we bought are set for 2850 instead of 3300. i was wondering if we had any pics or something that could show how to swap the Gov. springs (3300) out of the previous pummp into the rebuilt Uhaul (2850). i know it can be done but dont know how hard it is, any help is appreciated

where did you get that info?

The motor that i put in my 89 was out of a 91 F350 Uhaul box truck. It was governed right where the stock ford motor was.

uhaul motor going in complete with fuel system, yank cavitated motor for uhaul motor and dropped right in. So whatever pump uhaul put in the truck was in my truck for a while till i sold it and i revved her out all the time to over 3K.

I have installed a 4500 rpm spring in my own pump then i gave that spring to drag rag, and installed it in his IP for him, he is happy with it so far, anyone who wants a spring installed im willing to take it own, as long as everyone knows the risk in it and dont try to blame me if there engine happens to come flying apart

any gm 6.2 db2 pump has the higher governor.

wellll, now i just read that that may only be for the International Uhaul trucks, the Ford Uhaul trucks could still be 3300

Only the medium duty trucks were governed low. All Ford Uhauls are 3300 so u have nothing to worry about with the pump you bought. Its kinda why i was on the offensive to the whole thing as i took a motor out of a wrecked uhaul to put in my truck and the truck was bought like that, no one had ever touched it and i know she revved to 3K.

u haul replaced all their gov springs in these a few years ago when they had complaints of drivers renting their vehicles doing 55 on the freway when all other traffic was doing 80
