Fuel pump help

Regarding supply/lift pumps. I believe this pump - linked below - has been there since this van had a 460. That is at least a decade. There is a three way switch that provides for running it when there is oil pressure, all the time, or off. There have been a couple times when I left it in the off position and drove several miles without any apparent issue. The IP was quite capable of pulling fuel from the tank thru the not running supply pump.

There is another pump like this one that is a transfer pump to refill the primary tank from the two secondary tanks. It often runs dry.

The Racor filter replaced the original.

I mounted mine on the frame behind the r.f. wheel, when we cranked it up all we did was to open the Schroeder valve at the fuel filter, took about 30 seconds to get fuel to the injectors.

Mines still giving me a little **** starting first thing in the morning but runs like a top after that
