Not necessarily. Remember, if you are still running the factory fuel pump, that the fuel lines are under vacuum when the engine is running. Air is much thinner than water; a tiny hole may not leak fuel out ( surface tension), but it can admit air into the lines when atmospheric pressure is pushing it. This is one of the main reasins so many people here favor removing the factory fuel pump and adding an electric pump near the switch over valve. That puts most of the system under pressure. It is the number one modification recommended by "old timers" here on the board.
It also makes fuel filter changes a breeze, and saves wera and tear on the starter.
