I know some of you fellas have done the cab swap so, What is your best weight guess of a gutted 379 pete day cab? I want something different for the truck in my avitar. I will chop the top 4" and raise the floor 3". I have fiberglass experience so choping/shortening the hood/grille to fit the rest of the truck is no worry. What it's used for....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOizAH6XQzc

Just a gutted cab?

My guess would be under 1000 pounds,or right around there, it is all aluminum including the doors, and floors.

Call the local Pete dealer, the parts guy should be able to give you an exact figure.

Big truck cabs aren't that heavy. Even with the dash, seats and trim in them they are about 800-900 pounds or so. Most of the weight of a truck comes from the 2500 pound motors, 1500 pound tranmissions, 1500 pound rearends and so on. The cabs aren't that bad at all.

on a separate note, that truck seems to work pretty good in the slop!

Thanks fellas, I'll also see what the dealer has for weight specs.

if your 79 cab is in good shape it would be a shame to chop up that truck...

Not to worry, It will end up on another frame. The current bronco frame being #5 . Yes it's a sickness.:D
