Guy at the VFD just purchased a used 2000 PSD and was wondering if he needed to get a AIC like I've got, but it seems like I read somewhere the 2000 & up PSD's have a high idle built in.

DO they have a built in high idle, or does he need to find a AIC somewhere????

They've got one, but it only works in cold weather and it doesn't idle up enough. If I don't kick on the AIC, after a minute or so of low idle when it's cold out (below zero is when I've noticed it most) the engine will run up to ~1100 rpm but that's usually not fast enough to keep the EGT over 300 degrees.
