I have got about 10k miles on my companies 2005 f450 crewcab with a reading utility body. My previous truck was identical but a 2000 model with 170,000 miles. Both trucks are diesels 6.0 and 7.3. I like the coil spring suspension and tight turning radius of the new truck. The new truck also has a monster rear end maybe a dana 135 and heavy springs, tow/haul mode in the trans is awesome as is the integrated brake controller. The new truck is definately faster with the 6.0 and quiet. Ford has made some nice improvements. The longevity is questionable my old truck would not start when it got below 50 degrees, ate up ball joints, ran rough and had a huge turning radius. both trucks get horrible fuel mileage 8mpg in the 2000 and 12 mpg in the 2005. They are both good work trucks. I am glad I don't have to pay the fuel and repair bills. Glad I own a 92 dodge cummins 212,000 miles and 20 mpg

I just turned 348,000 on my 99 F450 work truck with the original engine and trans. I do have to say that the original get up and go got up and left. Same here with the crappy mileage but the truck weight is 13,000.lbs flatbed with the underbody boxes, fuel cell, welder, bottles and pile of tools.I always serviced the engine at 5,000.miles and auto tranny at 15,000.miles and always drain the torque convertor when tranny was serviced.
