    Source for new injector nozzles?

BTW if I recall the nozzle doesn’t do the sealing , and the part that does can be hand lapped.

    Source for new injector nozzles?

Dipico doesn’t have them? Has anyone checked with Classic Diesel Designs ?

    What new radiator to buy?

Guys, I would rather have a good brass core but it just isn’t happening anymore. So I’d like to stick to talking about what aluminum radiator is working or didn’t work for you. And my 96 7.3 PSD truck is still on the original plastic tanked aluminum radiator so we can’t say they are all junk. Lol

    What new radiator to buy?

I need a new radiator ASAP for my 91 7.3 IDI Turbo. Not able to fix existing. There are so many choices of all aluminum radiators out there. Not only the brand choice but what size and number of tubes. 2 rows of 1” tubes or 4 rows. I tow in 100 degree weather with the AC on no problem now. What...

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

I have a F-Superduty hydro booster in my 91, the original style power steering pump was pretty fresh so I just got a 2 return nipple reservoir for it. Works perfectly no whining no loss of steering. Been a couple years very happy. Found out the pump is the same up to 03 on the diesels. And all...

    Lifter Brand?

6.9 and 7.3 IDI lifters are one of the few parts that interchange with later engines. I know they fit the 7.3 Powerstroke and I believe they fit the 6.0 and 6.4 as well. There have definitely been some ones to avoid. Motorcraft and International should be safe. I believe Mahle is ok but do your...

    Random ploofs of smoke

I had that issue on my 6.9. Checked everything else then put a rebuilt pump and new injectors. Problem solved! I think sometimes as the pump and injectors wear it is so gradual we don’t notice. There was a huge increase in all around performance after the pump and injector rebuild.

Gear Vendors Install on 7.3 C6 with 4.10s

I have on on an 86 6.9 2wd with 3.55’s I have the OD switch on the shifter. Did away with the auto shift since it always “thought” it should be in OD at a dumb time. Used a control box from Maximum Overdrive. Still has the minimum mph cut out feature to protect the clutch. Ran a lot of secondary...

    Show us what you tow!

No pics but last Sunday I hauled 2 loads of big preggo cows. About 2,000 lbs a cow so it put me over 20k per load I imagine. 1.5 mile 7% grade finds the weak spots. Usually pulls it in 3rd but pulled down to second while holding good fuel pressure and very little smoke so some checking to do!

Agreed, that is why I said NEARLY foolproof.

Need help identifying a 1990 , 7.3 block to rebuild

On the CA smog. All of the F-Superduty trucks in CA were killed off by CARB. So if it came out of a FSD the story could true. No other IDI trucks were taken out of service in CA except the rare truck that smoked really bad and wasn’t fixed.

Need help identifying a 1990 , 7.3 block to rebuild

One really quick and nearly foolproof way to tell a turbo block is the port in the top rear that on a NA engine has the oil pressure sender is 1/8 npt and on a turbo engine is the turbo oil supply and 1/4 npt.

    Sanding the block

Absolutely to chasing threads! Must do. Yes to the vacuum....sometimes I scrape / clean with the vacuum wand in the other hand. Don’t have to get it out of things if it never got in!

    Sanding the block

That block looks awesome! I am very particular about this detail and have some habits I’ll share. Leaving the surface with a little “tooth” from 180 grit won’t hurt. I use oil on the sandpaper to keep sanding dust from going down the cylinders. I also park the pistons down the cylinder and oil...

    Timing light adapter on eBay

Thought I would share there is a very nice looking Mac ET18DPM timing light adapter on eBay right now. Can’t tell for sure what line diameter the line clamp is but ours is the most common so a little gamble there. Currently about $140 shipped it appears brand new. I have one it is the same the...

    Replacing head gaskets, what else?

I might add to the good advice above that if it still has the original factory installed stainless steel frost plugs (freeze plugs, core plugs) LEAVE THEM ALONE. Most shops and mechanics do not have the correct tools and experience to install correctly. Many people have had them fall out of a...

Will T19 Transfer case bolt to ZF5? (84' Auto to 5-speed conversion.)

The 6.9 was only factory mated to the ZF5 in 1987 so focus on a flywheel/ clutch for that.

1985 6.9 IDI Issues. NEED HELP ASAP

Also, you have a starter RELAY on the fender which is used to provide current to pull in the starter SOLENOID on the starter. The starter solenoid also makes the high current connection from batteries to starter motor as well as moving the starter drive gear into engagement. If the starter...

Brownies? Aux trannies? Dual transfer cases? 2 speed axles?

Yes there are some brownie boxes that are under direct over. They are pretty scarse. There is also the Mitchell 2 speed box that has been out of production a long time. Probably the most discussion I’ve seen on them has been on the 4btswaps conversation forum. It covers a lot of diesel swaps...

    1973 Ford F600 Detroit Diesel 12V71 Swap

Cool idea! Love them buzzin dozen! The 6 speed is going to have a rough life, even though it is a light truck. It is going to take some sae size adapters to get it connected to the Detroit. Much easier to run 9,10 or 13 speed. You are going to have 1/2 of the engine under the cab btw. Keep...

Timing set up on eBay if you need one

There is a Snap On MT-257 timing tool with a Snap On dual back timing light on eBay right now. $260 shipped is a little rough but it is everything together. FYI....I already have one.

    Snap on 480 timing meter

That’s a MT257. Much simpler than the MT480. The 480 uses a luminousity probe in the glow plug hole to “see” the combustion. And a magnetic pickup for the timing reference.
