East bound and down - with trailer

Well, down is a relative thing, probably cruising at 65 or so... and I don't have a Trans-Am blocker... I am heading from Utah to Connecticut via South Dakota, Chicago, Detroit, probably thru Canada to Niagara falls, upstate NY and finally down to Connecticut. I am leaving on friday and have...

    Injector question

Hey, I have what seem to be the original injectors in my van, it runs fine and all, and only has about 90k miles. I am going to be heading across the country in a few weeks and I am debating whether it seems like a good idea to change them for a fresh set, or just leave them be. Is 90K old...

    Hypermax pyro/boost guage, $50

Works, I just wanted smaller guages to go with my 'decor'. With the sensor and wire, you'll need to work out boost connection, but it is pretty easy to get the tubing and stuff at your local auto parts place.

    MT480-will this work?

Ok, as you see in my sig I have a van, I have been playing around with timing and fuel, using a ferret to time with my timing light, but I am never too confident in my timing because I can't see the timing marks very well, and there seems no way to improve access. The MT480 would solve my...

    A/C question

Hey guys, I have my A/C system all torn out, and I am working on getting it back in service with 134a. I am putting in the extreme environment orifice tube and new reciever etc. But my question is with the compressor. The system is overall really clean inside, the only place I have found...

Need advice on Dana 60 swap

Hey guys, I want to tap into the collective brain. I am looking at swapping my rear axle, which is 4:10, for a newer one (1998-1999) I found which is 3:55 and limited slip. The price of the new one is less than I'd pay for the parts alone for a ratio swap and LS unit. the new one is literally...

    Two ideas I had

I am mulling over setting my van up to run on wvo, probably usin the stock front tank with appropriate heating. idea 1: using tranny fluid to heat the tank pickup, because it is nearby and I am already using an external cooler. The tranny heats up pretty quick, quicker than the coolant. idea...

Pipes for a Hypermax pulse turbo (IDI)

I have a set of pipes for a hypermax pulse turbo setup, both of the turbine inlet pipes and the turbo down pipe too (this is 2 pieces). I'd like to get $50 for each piece, which is less than 1/2 of the new price from hypermax, and I'll ship them in the lower 48 for that price. PM me or call...

    Reman pump

Seems to me I heard somewhere that ford installed reman pumps when new sometimes, I mean on a new truck there might be a reman pump. Is this true or possible? I am wondering because my van has a reman sticker, but only about 80k miles, so shouldn't have needed a rebuild really. JwS

    Fuel Filter relocate??

Hey all, I am going to install a turbo on my van. As I was looking over the install I came up with the idea of moving the fuel filter assembly from the top of the engine to a spot down underneath, near the fuel tank switch and my electric pump. If you have never seen a van setup, the spot they...

    Non-turbo exhaust

Just a quick question, that probably could be answered by a call to Hypermax... Will the Hypermax exhaust fit without the turbo?? I guess I would need a y pipe, but other than that?? Jay

    Dana 60 debate

Ok, so I have been planning on changing the axle in my van from 4:10 to 3:55 to get some mpg improvement etc.. I planned to change the gears myself and figured it would run about $300 or so if everything went ok. (there is nothing wrong with the rear end now) However I just found on Ebay a...

    Odd little leakage

I have noticed a little leakage at the back outside corners of the cylinder heads on my van, it amounts to almost nothing, I mean it barely stains the block. But the interesting part is that when it is cold I have actually seen coolant (if I remember right) bubbling out. Once it is warm it all...

    GV overdrive on a E4od

I have read alot about GV overdrives, and perused their website, but I am wondering how the overdrive works with my automatic. Will it automatically engage "between" each gear making my 4spd into an 8 spd? if so, does it respond to speed or load or what? Basically I am wondering if it will...

    IDI at altitude??

I recently moved from the east coast (altitude 0) to salt lake city (altitude about 4500'), So I am dealing a bit with overfueling from the less dense air, it isn't a big deal at 4500, but when I climb up to 7000 and above, which is fairly common out here, I get the black smoke and the temp...

    New guy, comments questions

Hi all, I have been lurking and searching the forum since I bought an '89 E350 7.3IDI RV conversion about 6 months ago. Thanks to all your experiences I have worked pretty much all the issues out of my RV, which when I bought it would only start when block heated, even in fairly moderate...
