Testing a front fuel sending unit that reads empty

Hey all, thanks for the replies! I'll try the float first, hopefully that's all that's wrong. The fact that I'm getting some resistance in the range of empty on the sender seems to me that the resistor inside the sender is working. For anyone in the future with a 1993 Ford F 250 7.3 IDI, here's...

Testing a front fuel sending unit that reads empty

Great I see your bumps. Thanks for the help. If someone stumbles across this in the future, here are the links to the threads Clb referred me to: https://www.oilburners.net/threads/fuel-gauge-pegged-where-to-start-looking.92091/unread...

Testing a front fuel sending unit that reads empty

I definitely did a search, but most of those posts are for gauges that are pegged at full, couldn't find an answer to this specific problem. I know how annoying it is to see reposts, but even just a link to a post on this forum would be helpful.

Testing a front fuel sending unit that reads empty

Hi everyone, I have a 93 F240 4x4 7.3 NA, and I'm trying to figure out how to diagnose a fuel gauge problem that I think is related to the fuel sender. With the selector gauge set to rear, my gauge reads full and drops normally as I consume fuel in my rear tank. With the selector gauge set to...

NAPA SCA Precharged Heavy Duty Antifreeze - does it really have SCAs?

Ok answering my own question because Napa wasn't giving me a straight answer. I used Acustrip PSS-CT4 strips and there sure is Nitrite in it, but no Molybdate. So, if anyone out there is thinking about using Napa Heavy Duty coolant, rest assured their SDS is lying, there are indeed SCAs...

Resistance on glow plugs aren't consistent. Possible bad relay. Which to replace?

Alright, I replaced all 8 glow plugs with Motorcraft ZD29 glow plugs. Cylinder 4 is a real pain in the butt, but I got it out with a extended 3/8th socket on a 1/4" u joint and a 1/4" extension. Thanks for the help y'all! No more clicks, she starts right up.

NAPA SCA Precharged Heavy Duty Antifreeze - does it really have SCAs?

Because I'm a nerd, I checked the SDS sheet for NAPA SCA Precharged Heavy Duty Antifreeze. I filled my 93 NA with it yesterday, and was curious what SCAs even were, so I checked the data sheet. It only lists the following ingredients: SDS sheet here ethylene glycol: 90 - 97 weight by volume...

Resistance on glow plugs aren't consistent. Possible bad relay. Which to replace?

Ok, I'll test again tomorrow and see if grounding closer to the plug changes anything. I recently bought the truck and don't know when the last time the glow plugs were changed. That's my reasoning for changing them all at once.

Resistance on glow plugs aren't consistent. Possible bad relay. Which to replace?

Thanks for the reply! So I suppose it makes the most sense to replace all of the glow plugs as a set?

Resistance on glow plugs aren't consistent. Possible bad relay. Which to replace?

Hi everyone, You can see below the results of the resistance check I did on my glow plugs on my 93 7.3 IDI NA. My relay clicks about 10 times after the wait to start light turns off. To test the glow plugs, I removed each connector and placed the positive lead of my ohm meter on the top of the...
