    Update:bit the bullet and paid to have a shop reseal my crossover, up pipe and downpipe as well as fabricate a hanger for the downpipe.     Thanks for the clarification, this thread has kinda become my all around exhaust leaks thread. I’m not too concerned about the downpipe now performance wise, however with it being winter I’m using the hvac system a lot more and I get that exhaust smell inside. I’ll take a look at that...

    I found time to get under the truck today and this is what I find. No wonder the DP isn’t sealing. Held on with plumber strap. I don’t have the tools to fab something up to bolt to the downpipe, is there something missing I could buy? Might just take it to an exhaust shop and have them reseal...

    Oh cool. I thought this was a factory turbo truck. Is one or the other a better turbo? I’ll have to do some research now as I thought this was factory. This truck has been one discovery after another as far as mods go. Thanks I’ll see what I can do about sealing it up.

    Am I looking at the downpipe here? Is it stock? I don’t see anywhere to tighten it up and there’s a lot of soot here. Maybe 1/8 or more of play. Is the part with the 12 points the elbow followed by the dp?

    I’ll take a look when it’s light out thanks. After that’s tight I’ll try the vacuum method to check for any more leaks. Does using a vacuum to push air through the exhaust work beyond the downpipe? Is there a proper way to see if my up pipes, crossover etc are sealed?

    Let’s see if this works how is the Downpipe connected? It looks and feels like it just slips in. Could this cause low boost or is it too late in the system? Forgive my ignorance but I’m not at all familiar with how the turbo system works

    I put the vacuum to my exhaust and sprayed around a bit, although I didn’t really need to as I could hear and feel the air here. This pipe I’ve got my hand on has a lot of play. Downpipe? How do I upload a video?

    Yeah it weeps. I think I slowed it down by tightening the bolts a bit but the gaskets need to be done too.

    Looked to me like soot more so than oil, I’ve been meaning to get something to clean the engine off so I can get an idea where things are still leaking oil. I’ll see if I can find the leak tomorrow.

    Well it’s getting colder here, at least last week it was. -11c starts just fine without plugging anything in. I have noticed that the truck idles lower when it’s this cold.     Just added a hypermax intercooler, can't reach fuel filter..

    Got a picture? My intercooler piping interferes with my air cleaner, all I do is undo the clamps and rotate it out of the way if I need access. How often do you need to access your filter?

    Before timing the engine I saw egts over 1200 while hauling, but never for extended periods. My cruising temps are around 550 at 110km/h now which seems really cool.     I’m not sure about the intercooler, I believe it was branded Garrett on it but haven’t looked too hard for any info on it. The thermocouple is on the side of the engine, looks like second cylinder? From the back on the drivers side. Sorry not familiar with the terminology.

    I’ll try wiring the wastegate shut tonight and test again. I guess my next step would be tracking down any potential boost leaks, and I’ve seen people mention oil in the intercooler, might see if anything comes out of it.
