Whats do you think,1986, 6.9, f350, 50k original firetruck value?

Has a little more than 50K miles. At least 150k, maybe a lot more. They used ether to start it. Pretty sure glowplugs are shot. Tranny shifted hard and it would barely stop. I decided to hold off now on it. I don’t need another major project right now until I get my 2002 on the road...

Whats do you think,1986, 6.9, f350, 50k original firetruck value?

Thanks los182, thats what I am leaning towards. I think if nothing else, and I don’t like it, I can get my money back (maybe more). I appreciate everyone looking at this and maybe pointing stuff to check out. I know my 1994, leaked bad around injector return lines. This shows no signs of...

Whats do you think,1986, 6.9, f350, 50k original firetruck value?

Hi I have a chance to buy a superclean, retired 1986 regular cab, dually 2 wd with automatic. It has an ambulance body on back but they used it for emergency equipment apparently. Under the hood looks like new. Its always been in firehouse. I don’t really need it and can barely afford it...

    Help please, 2002 7.3 convert to a 6.0 frontend

Here are some progress shots after I replaced the leaking hose... Bottom pic first, top pic is second, last is middle pic with lights on. It only needs a front bumper, which I plan to make later. I drove it to town and got fuel with no problems.

79jasper, thank you, thats where I first thought the leak was from, power steering cooler. I did reroute the hoses. Now they go under the radiator support bracket.

I found the problem and now have a spare radiator. I punctured the hose going to the new transmission fluid cooler. Fixed now! Thanks all!! It was the lower back hose. I had hard time getting it off old cooler. Guess I punctured it.

The reason I quit working on the truck is that my dad had a heart attack and had to have quadruple bypass surgery. Surgery did not go well. I have been out of state helping my folks during a rough recovery for my dad. Thanks

Here's the problem. Its leaking transmission fluid from or near the radiator. I am not sure exactly whats happening. Actually the first radiator I installed was bent from shipping. I thought thats why it was leaking. I just installed a new radiator from O'reilly's and its still leaking...

After a long absence I have been working on this truck. I have all the mechanical things complete.... almost. With new batteries the truck cranked up and drove with no problems after sitting for a year and a half.

I sure hope so! Thanks I am tempted but this and other side is all that needs welding. Not sure I could do better with a mig either. Almost finished with the body welding for now. Mig just isn't in the budget. Next time I will. Thanks

    Algea in my fuel?

I've seen a diesel boat that sat up a few years had a tank full of algae. Whole fuel system had to be cleaned out.

Above you can see the ratchet strap used to pull panel into alignment. Very Ugly, but effective (I hope) stick welds from my little Campbell Hausfield 115V welder. Rods are 1/16" Lincoln E6013. High setting blew thru, low seemed fine but harder to start. Started raining so decided to post...

    Help please, 2002 7.3 convert to a 6.0 frontend

I got the new body mount bushings installed. They were $49.99 each set from LMC , considerably less than Ford. The first one was a booger to install. Second, not as bad. In hindsight I probably should have left the old ones in place because the core support is a tad too high now. Lol

    Help please, 2002 7.3 convert to a 6.0 frontend

As usual my ignorance made things more difficult. It finally occured to me that removing the top bar would allow the sides to slide back in position so the bottom part can go over bumper supports. Now just some welding and install. Hope this helps someone.

Above is the passenger side. There is not much room because of the center U shaped part that fits between the frame rails. Just not sure of the best solution. If I can get this radiator support fitted and welded in I think I can be on the road soon. Only part I don't have is the mishimoto...

    Help please, 2002 7.3 convert to a 6.0 frontend

Above the front body mount bushings had to be removed to get more clearance. They were a PIA to get out. Ended up cutting them off with a sawzall. After removing front body mount bushings both driver and passenger side looked like this. Not enough clearance. I think I will have to force...
