Just put together my idi with a typ4 093 kit, cam, 100cc pump with a new luk clutch, slightly used luk flywheel. No slip, engages great. I did the rear main while I was in there and very happy with it.

Sky manufacturing came out with a new kit to swap I think 05-16 springs in which I believe are about 8 inches longer

That black truck has more like 8-10 inches of lift and I would bet the blue truck is on 40+ inch tires.
Here is a 5 inch lift with 35’s

Was in college and couldn’t afford a power stroke, now I could buy a new truck but stick with old faithful. The guys at work constantly make fun of it but my truck spends more time running well and costs less to work on them several of our newer diesel trucks.

http://www.trailworthyfab.com/H1-Hummer-Wheels/ these guys do all different versions of the wheels. Personally I would stay away from 16.5 tires, too little options for tires

The H1 wheels have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5 inches of backspacing. They can be recentered to any specs though

Yea it’s just the frame box, the bracket gets sandwiched inside of the cross member with 4 grade 8 bolts per side. I didn’t feel the need to weld it

I have the sky kit, I did not weld my kit, the design in my head did not make it necessary to do so. Many miles on it so far. It’s pretty straight forward but did not come with any instructions

Agreed the track bar length won’t give bump steer, but the longer track bar will give less of an arc through its suspension travel and bind less on the leaf springs though.

I run the same kit, no track bar or sway bar needed. Mine runs straight as an arrow with no death wobble or body roll. The beauty is you can always go back and add one if you have issues down the road. However typically Death wobble comes from loose suspension and steering joints or improper...
You typically want to run a track bar unless you run a shackle reversal, mine does not have a track bar or sway bar and rides straight and level. No death wobble at all. Personally I would get a longer track bar, and run it in front of the axle. Ideally you want the track bar to be as close to...
That’s a bummer, I have a RuffStuff diff cover in the front and it was just an add on to get the lube locker. My rear is rtv if I remember right. At some point I’ll get another diff cover for it and go lubelocker

Lubelocker gaskets are awesome for diff’s if you need to maintenance or swap fluid regularly. You re-use the gasket and no sticky mess

I finally got my voltage gauge wired into my truck, I noticed that before I start it reads 12v, as I cycle glow plugs it draws down a couple of volts, same with cranking. After it starts it stays at 12v for about 30 seconds to a minute when it then pops up to 14v.
Mine has new batteries and...
I am referencing slop between TRE and the cure, nothing is wrong with my steering box. I can’t post the vide but the cure has 1/16 to 1/8 inch of play meaning it doesn’t function like it is supposed to. RuffStuff is blaming the TRE taper depth and not a mistake in machining of the cure. I...
I’m running the ruff stuff spacer with Chevy TRE custom steering. Mine has play in it still because the spacer has play in it. I called ruff stuff and they think that the hole in the tie rod is not reamed deep enough causing the spacer not to fit. I need to get it pulled apart and measure so...
Yea you would most likely need to adjust pinion angle with either shims or new spring perches. If you mock up the shackle flip and don’t move the front spring hanger the wheel should not move forward or back.
It’s all personal preference, I do a lot of 4x4 stuff with my truck so I am building...
