F-150 question
Ok, I just happened across this post. I'm curious, what can you do to up the power on a 4.6 Liter V-8. I have put on a better exhaust, and K&N Air Filter/air intake setup. I guess power isnt as much of an issue as upping gas mileage. I'm hitting 15 -16 MPG.- Twin_diesels

33" tires fit?
Its a non AC support. Truck is suffering from a serious case of "Iron Moths", lol. THe front is the first repair, but I also need to find a new cab. Biggest problem has been time to do it. I have a number of other projects going, as well as two jobs. LOL, oh well, some day!!- Twin_diesels

33" tires fit?
I've been running 33"x12.5"x16.5" tires on my truck for quite a while. It's tight, but they fit pretty well. I would see maybe there being a problem with some really extreme off roading or rock climbing. Otherwise, the only reason I have had an issue with tires rubbing is due to the body...- Twin_diesels

Any Hank Hills out there?
Well, I'm not going to say I'm an engineer, except maybe a degree from "Seat of the Pants University), but I think that the quantity of Propane needed to cool the air as much as you'd plan on, I think it may be more than the motor can handle w/o over speeding, or completely choking it off...- Twin_diesels

vacuum this time
Um, as much as not replacing the vacuum pump is, if I remember right, there are a few controls for the Heating/AC that operate with vacuum. I dont know what exactly they are, but I know on my 90, theres one right by the pass side, firewall corner (around the heater core area). Just something...- Twin_diesels

Smokey Exhaust at Idle

Who is interested in cowl induction hoods?
Well, I know that in the older tractors (farm), one way they got the moisture out of the air before it went into the motor, was to use an oil bath filter system. Not sure how you'd make that work.- Twin_diesels

Steering Column Slip Joint
Well, I managed to find at the stealership the replacement shaft/slip joint. I wanted to make sure it fit the truck before I said I had it. Got it as a Christmas Present from my parents, LOL. another glow plug ?
Things are a little warmer, so the plugs don't have to run as long to get up to temp. Sounds like they are ok, just is cold. The diesels are a little tempermental in the winter if ya aren't familiar with em. If you can keep it plugged in, thats better anyways. The oil circulates a little...- Twin_diesels

That method is a quick and dirty way to find one with a major fault. The way it works is that when the GP's get warmer, the resistance goes up. That resistance is what the controller senses to shut them off before they burn up. I dont know what the range is for resistance of a good one...- Twin_diesels

Lifting truck for work
well, at home, we often use some good solid lumber. 8x8s work well, but you can only go up so far. Sounds like you should be able to jack it up and put blocks under the tires, or back up on a good HEAVY DUTY SET of Ramps for this project. Well, I've used Baldwins and Wix pretty religiously. Where I work they started using Fram filters. When winter came around and the trucks that were outside started, it collapsed the filters (as we found out at oil changes).
