    glow plug controller

Update: After a new set of zd9 plugs, a new wire from the battery to the always hot on the relay and a new relay my glow plugs still would not light off over 1 second. Finally done the glow plug controller bypass as described in the tech article and I now have glow plugs functioning. The only...

    glow plug controller

so if i run a 4 or 6 ga awg wire from the battery directly to the always hot post this will verify if my wires are the problem correct? Nothing permanent only as a test.

    glow plug controller

guys, something about this just doesn't make sense to me, sometimes I can be a little slow to pick up on the obvious so bear with me. I have power to the hot always post on my relay and i followed Mel's instructions on checking my relay and it works and I have new glow plugs, why wouldn't the...

    gas to diesel swap

big project if you do it correctly, wiring harness under hood and in the cab, I did it with a 460 in a f350, radiator supports are different motor mounts will work, a lot to consider before you start, several days work but well worth it for me. the 460 was getting 9 mpg and the 7.3 gets about...

    glow plug controller

CORRECTION After rereading Mel's 3 step instructions I realized I had not followed them correctly. My relay is definitely good, but I still have the same problem after rechecking all connections on the relay. Should I just run a new wire to my relay hot side and say heck with it? Could it be...

    glow plug controller

thought I should get a relay from ford as Mel stated the others may look the same but are inferior. this one lasted 21 years so I really have no room to complain.

    glow plug controller

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble figuring out my controller issue. A couple weeks ago my wait to start light was staying on for a shorter length of time but I could tell the glow plugs were getting power since my volt meter was pulling down. I thought I had a couple bad glow plugs so I bought...

    Oil drain plug

Hey guys, Could anyone tell me how much clearance there is between the drain plug and oil pump tube? Yep I striped my drain plug, pulled most threads off of it. Went to oreillys and bought a 1/2 x 20 drain plug but it was about 3/8 longer than the original. so before I screw something else up I...

    hard start

when your key is turned on, your fuel pump, electric aftermarket pressurizes the system while you wait for the wait to start light to go out so the injector pump has pressurized fuel to it when you turn the key to start. most here think too much pressure at start up make it more difficult to start.

    Fuel Heater PLug

Do you really need the fuel heater? It gets below zero F here and when mine started leaking I just cleaned it real well with brake cleaner to remove any residue from the fuel leak and filled the female connector with rtv. No leaks for over 2 years and no ill effects from no fuel heater, just a...

    starting/ charging issue

I just replaced an atlernator doing the exact same thing, it would charge for about 10 minutes when cold and then quit. I tried the voltage regulator first but it kept doing the same. Changing the alternator fixed my problem. by the way whenever i had it checked it tested good

M.L.S.C., no not a marine more of a nick i've had since i was much younger. the 3g conversion sounds like it may be what i'm trying to do, i figure the fewer parts to break the better. the link to the diagram didn't work for me do we have a write up somewhere i could access? thanks

    alternator conversion

Hey guys, is there a way to eliminate the external voltage regulator on my 89 idi? I'd like to use an alternator with an internal regulator. Suggestions??? Thanks, gunnie

    Holley Red alternative...

I have one, just be sure to check the pressure on it before you install, mine checked 12 lbs so i used a pressure regulator. Folks here say too much fuel pressure changes timing.

    Holley Red Ruined

i bought one of those and it checked 12 lbs so be sure to verify before you install, the folks here all claim 4-8 is ideal so if it is 7 you're right on.

    460 to an idi swap
