Need help with gear selector please!

Thank you to everyone that tried to help me with this. I finally took it to a tranny shop and found the old shaft was bad and that my repair was good. However, the outer plastic sheath broke on the shift cable allowing it to flex and bind. I thought I would post this in case someone else...

    Horn Problems

I put the ground probe of my meter on the negative battery terminal and the positive to one side of the fuse while it was in the box and got 12v. Then I touched the positive probe to the other side and got 12v. Then, just to be sure I was doing it right, I pulled the fuse and looked at it to see...

Need help with gear selector please!

OK, thanks. Sounds like it might be the solution, especially since the key releases when the lever is pushed all the way to the left - what should be park. Makes me think you guys are onto something - that the problem is now at the trans end. Man I love the members of this site!

Need help with gear selector please!

OK, is that the lever on the side of the tranny? I can reach up and manually click it back one gear with the cable attached. Tomorrow, I'll try to get someone to run it through the gears while I lay underneath and watch. You cant put the shift tube in wrong can you? I'm a newbie for sure, but...

    Horn Problems

Swapped with a known good one and it doesn't change anything. When you pull the cover off the steering wheel there is a female plug with 3 small male pins inside. I tested each pin and non of them had any voltage with the key on or off.

    Horn Problems

OK, now I'm at a loss. The fuse shows 12v in and 12v out with full continuity. I pulled the relay and tested it according to the included link and it tested good as well. No what? http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford_relay_tests/relay_bench_test_2.php

Wow, you guys are amazing!!!!! OK, I'll go out and look now, as my patience are too frayed to deal with my "no Park" issue right now. Thank you again.

Need help with gear selector please!

OK, I have something going on. I now have a nice tight (maybe too tight) shift lever. What I don't have is Park...still. I have every gear R through 1, but no Park. There isn't enough throw to take into Park I think. Is there an adjustment in the cable? I'm not sure how I could have screwed up...

    Horn Problems

Ok, after the shift tube problem, I am back to the horn problem. Definitely not getting power to the column. There is no "horn" fuse in the interior fuse box and the box under the hood has no labels at all. I did have someone tell me their relay was behind the dash next to the glove box so I'm...

Need help with gear selector please!

Thanks for the replies, guys. You were all right. The two bolts at the end of the shift plunger were loose - one significantly. I tightened them and was able to get reverse about 50% of the time and picked up the munchkins on time. When I got home I dropped the column and instantly saw the...

Need help with gear selector please!

Ok guys. The truck was having trouble going into Park. I would move the gear shifter all the way up and still be in reverse. Then the little orange indicator disappeared. Now it wont go into reverse. It looks like there is a cylinder that rotates and pushes/pulls the shift cable. I think that...

Washer fluid and Surge tank set up is not installed

Believe it or not, I'm in the exact same boat. I have the overflow tank, but no washer tank/pump and couldn't find a picture to show me what I am missing too.

    Horn Problems

I know the powerpoint works, but never tried the cig lighter in the ashtray. I'll go out and test it now and I will also look under the hood for anything labeled "horn".

    Horn Problems

Ok, where do I find the relay? Also, no fuse positions in the dash fuse box are listed as being for the horn - first thing I checked :-) Lastly, I do not have cruise control if this helps.

    Horn Problems

OK, guys I need help from some of the amazingly talented people that frequent this forum. I just started the redo on my 92 f350 - the truck in my signature. I am fairly mechanical, and I can paint and sort of weld, but I am dumber than a post when it comes to electrical. So here we go. My...

    Headlight relay kit

It was on the 14th or 15th. Whatever Friday night was. It came in the following Thursday, so about 4 business days total. It came packed in a big box so I wasn't sure what it was when it came in. Hopefully, going to get it put in this Sunday.

obs cc sc for parts superduty axles cummins

How clean are the beds. I may buy another bed instead of pounding the dents out of mine. Also, what color and condition is the cc interior? I live just outside of Sanford.

    must see blower fan upgrade

Im totally interested in this, as well. Unfortunately, im electrically challenged and am having trouble following th relay idea. Can someone here (who has probably forgotten more about this than I'll ever know) do a write up with photos and parts list?

    Headlight relay kit

I ordered the LMC kit and an extra relay Friday night. Now I wish I would have built my own. Oh well, its not that big of a deal, I guess - would have been nice to save $20 and have common relays though.

The importance of keeping an eye on things

Same here. had a small leak in the line and it got forgotten, pump went dry and now it hums all of the time. I just bought a new pump, gear box, lines, fluid, and ps pulley puller. I'm going to do the whole thing in one shot in a few weeks.

    HID upgrade.

Ok, I think these were $15 each. I'm in Orlando too. We need to get together, drink a beer and talk about old trucks :)
