I like the quick like right now engagement. The reason for super sloppy clearance specs is to keep the user from breaking stuff.
Most people don't like to stop when changing directions. Just toss it in drive while rolling reverse, or reverse while rolling forward. The shock has to go...
When towing heavy and slow, always hit the OD off button. The tranny will thank you for that. In extreme cases, manual shifting is your friend.
Now for that pesky delayed reverse. Causes is low boost. When selecting reverse, the pump as to handle three functions at once. Coast clutch,direct...
26 is TOT out of range. You get this code when the sensor goes bad.
As for the filter, you can just toss it. It will not hurt anything without it. If anything you can do more damage when it becomes to restrictive.
Code 26 is a failed TOT sensor. Usually out of range.
Pull the solenoid pack connector and check for fluid leakage. Most TOT failures are from fluid leakage.
To fix a this problem you have to replace the solenoid pack.
Low fluid or low fluid pressure will lock the converter at low speeds. Check the fluid level.
Check the alternator, your issues are sounding like an electrical problem.
99-00 Ford Superduty had the oil to water cooler eliminated to save cost. Ford warrantied alot of transmissions because of that move. 01 they returned that cooler. Oil to water is the primary cooler. Oil to air is secondary. This why you plumb oil to air cooler after the radiator.
Ford developed the bypass valve to save the tranny from total failure do to blockage. Its pressure based, not thermal.
What happens during a blockage is the rear of the tranny starves for fluid. This will cause the output shaft bushing to spin.
The problem isn't electrical.
Either the direct clutch or the center support is the issue. Loose feed bolts, leaking center support seals, or the direct clutch is out of spec.
Pull the connector off of the solenoid pack. Check to see if there is fluid in the connector.
A malfunction in S1 and S3 will cause a no 2-3 shift and converter lock up issues.
89 can be a real pain to get codes from. Sometimes there are stored codes. Most of the time they show up after the...
I overlooked the year.. You need to change the solenoid pack to a 89-94. Then it will be plug and play. 95 the E4 had a moderate overhaul. One of the changes was the solenoid pack.
The solenoid packs are in groups 89-94 and 95-98.
