Funny, fuel economy & big truck! Heaps of non F series owners say to me " you'd be luck to get from one bowser to the next" The 1 ton Toyota land cruisers 4wd, which are the norm out here, run a 4.5 litre V8 turbo diesel & chew 35-40 % more fuel than my 7.3 PSD unladen than mine does towing a 3...
Thanks. I removed the heater core totally ages ago as it was restricting air flow. What dumb design ! How could enough air possibly flow through a second core. Its never cold long enough to warrant a heater out here . When we need a heater in vehicles out here we use the A/c like a household...
Well my fix was a relay on the fan motor & one on the compressor. Genuine parts would be at least 2-3 weeks away & I need this going now. 100f days are upon us in western Qld. Enjoy your winter in the northern hemisphere!
It is a new motor, even fitted a new rectifier into the system. The vacuum switch on the dash won't let the clutch lock in so I fitted a " hot wire" to power it up to test it out the workshop. Got me stumped !
Thanks but I already have "safe tow" tune in from my Superchips 1705 tuner. I inherited it from a family member. I know it's old but the price was right & it does the job.
As we say down under "Cool Bananas"
Been a bit stressfull doing repairs on an "unknown quantity" with only a forum & youtube videos for a "pathway to enlightenment"
My knowledge wasn't grounded on accuracy but it was aided by labour & sustained by perserverence, in the end, overcame all...
Just went & started the truck after leaving it for a while with the batteries disconnected & the "liitle green men" who hide in the electrical system must be happy once more. Orange engine light switched itself off how it should do!:Thumbs Up
Plugged it back in, the light is still on, so back to the original plan, new map sensor by the look of it. Did a code check, 603 & 237 came up, cleared them. Will see how it pans out when the new sensor arrives.
Thanks for the place to start.Traced the hose off the Y  was pushed over the back. Scored a new job which required an imeadiate start hence a rush to finish:eek: I took months to do my injector cups etc with working away from home a few times during the job. Picking up from where you...
Thanks 79Jasper. My truck has been converted to RH drive, so you're referring to the left side of the engine bay. I've found a connection which looks like it would fit the map sensor but I cannot remember ever seeing a map sensor (connection as shown) As this is a RH drive conversion done in...
Since I've restarted & been running my truck after doing the injector sleeves etc plus the water pump & oilcooler the orange engine warning light has stayed illuminated once the engine is running.
Replaced the oil pressure sensor on top of the Hpop reservoir. The engine oil pressure gauge is...
Spent the money, fitted up the new sensor, light is still on.:(
Put the code reader through the system, only code which came up P0237, something to do with the turbo "Turbo boost sensor A circuit Low Input" :dunno
Thanks, now I know where to look ! Nothing much for these trucks is readily available here in Australia & anything which is, is 3 times what it's worth. Currently our exchange rate is .69 USD cost us $1Au
I have a similar question, my orange "engine" light has stayed illuminated since all my work was completed. What connection or sensor should I look for ?
My speedo reads in kilometres per hour too ;)
Since I've done the injector cups etc, the orange engine light has stayed on. Given the engine an oil change, thought as the orange engine light meant "service soon" from one place I've read, it might go out. Still illuminated. Truck's going in for a transmission service when I return...
Onto the fine tuning before our trip towing the caravan (travel trailer). The wiring on the rear view camera needed some attention. Plugged it in for a test, :Thumbs Up working. Love to put up pics of my "wrong side" cab configuration !;Poke
Been working away in the gas fields interstate since I replaced my oilcooler.
One thing I must say, it was a lot easier than I'd been lead to believe. Two wheel drive, so no front diif in the way, no steering box in the way either to restrict access & didn't require removal of the power...
