    Rear glass replacement question

Craigslist window is $25. Not sure if it's worth the hassle. Removing the window and getting it to seal seems tricky.

    Rear glass replacement question

One of the sliding pieces is broken on my rear window. Is it possible to replace only the slider or does the whole assembly need to be replaced? I found someone selling the whole assembly on craigslist, but one of the non-sliding pieces is broken. Not sure if I can cannibalize the pieces or not...

Some funny starter problems that i seem to have fixed, now i have trust issues

Holy shit. I'm totally gonna buy one of those DB starters. Half the cost of my local auto parts store. I never thought about buying parts from amazon... Also, once the rain quits i'll check out the starter bolts too. It doesn't seem that anyone replaces just the bendix, i'm guessing this is...

More specifically, is this evidence of a bigger problem?

Some funny starter problems that i seem to have fixed, now i have trust issues

My 1990 f250 NA IDI refused to start the other day while i was out. It made a single loud clunk when i would turn the key. This happend several times parked in the Safeway parking lot before it finally started. I drove the truck home and parked. It refused to start after that. I started by load...

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

However, the sad news is that while bleeding the brakes i discovered that my front caliper was leaking. Looks like i must have fucked up the threads when installing the speed bleeder screws. Looks like i'll be replacing my front caliper and pads next. Is it bad to just do one at a time? It...

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

Oh, and my shoes came with the guides installed making it really hard to mix them up. Glad they did, i'd have likely mixed things up otherwise.

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

Whelp, it turns out that I do in fact have a limited slip rear diff. I learned that i can check to see what kind of rear diff these trucks have by looking at the tab attached to the diff...it'll have an L next to some numbers if it's limited. I also learned, thanks to u/punkmechanic, that i can...

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

Ok, that makes more sense. I've got 4wd and so it seems like i also have a limited slip diff. I was really worried for a moment that i had accidentally uncovered some major problem with my truck.

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

Also, i just went and poked at the truck...and my wheels are both turning the same direction. The way i would expect them to if the axle was solid. For what it's worth, the truck was running great before i decided to do the brakes and i've put 10 or 15 thousand miles on it without much issue.

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

Huh, does it make a difference that i've been trying to do this whole process with both wheels off of the ground? as far as letting 'em wear in, how long would that take? seems like i'd want to check and see if they're actually broken in at some point...think i'd worry that i'd burn up my new shoes.

A couple questions about rear drum brake adjustment

I replaced my shoes and rear wheel cylinders and all the associated hardware. Now i'm trying to adjust the rear brakes before bleeding the system. I've turned the start wheel to what feels like it's limit in both directions. One direction locks the wheel (as expected) the other direction loosens...

fuel return line replacement - some questions

Huh. Good to know about the caps melting. I didn't see any obvious signs of carnage on the caps when i replaced the return lines. Would the injector leak compression/exhaust gasses into the return line or into the fuel supply line? If it's going into the supply line would that still melt the...

fuel return line replacement - some questions

Did you do that all yourself? How difficult was it? Im eyeing some new injectors and fuel lines as the next project.

fuel return line replacement - some questions

You might have more luck posting a new thread with some photos, i'm not how many people are reading all the replies to this thread. That being said, i just went and poked my head in my truck. On mine, the IP return line goes to the #2 injector. (#2 is the one closest to you on the right as your...

fuel return line replacement - some questions

Hrmmm. Attachments aren't working. I've uploaded a couple photos to imgur. You can see the difference in between the two. What i'm guessing is carbon is showing up as black crusty stuff on the angled part of the hardline where it terminates. Could an injector be bad and allow exhaust gasses to...

fuel return line replacement - some questions

My project was a success! The parts arrived in the mail from Contestoga Diesel. And i went to work replacing the fuel lines. All went well and i didn't run into any problems to speak of. Replaced it piece by piece, using the old lines as guides to cut out the new ones. The only worrying...

fuel return line replacement - some questions

Thanks for the thoughtful and informative reply! I think that contains everything i need. Repair kit ought to be arriving in a couple of days. I'll either have more questions or a success story coming soon.

fuel return line replacement - some questions

I just ordered a fuel return line kit from the nice folks over at Conestoga diesel. I was about ready to order the kit from ebay, but after doing some searching around the forum i realized how bad of an idea that might have been. One of my lines rubbed a hole in it and is spewing fuel onto the...

1990 7.3 needs glow plug swap. (a couple of questions)

It's a 1990 7.3l idi. I was talking about changing the harness because one of the glowplug wires appears to have been eaten by a mouse. Perhaps i can find just one of the plugs, or tape the wire for now. Are the ZD9s and ZD1s interchangeable? It might be easier to put the 1s in since i know i...

Great, and you didn't have to pull any of the injector lines? What about swapping the wires?

1990 7.3 needs glow plug swap. (a couple of questions)

My truck began starting harder most of the way through a 3000 mile road trip. I initially assumed it was the cold (it started happening in Salt Lake early in the morning). However, now that i've returned to the northwest it's still happening. I did a bit of reading and discovered that i should...
