    Tach

    My 84 had the plug even though it didn't come with a tach. I found a sensor a while ago, and plugged it in, but I've never found an 84 factory tach to complete the setup. The junkyards around here (northern MN) never seem to have many diesels in them.

    I have found info on these tachs on a few other diesel forums, and it seems that they came pre calibrated for use with 6.9 IDI's, and were manufactured in the mid to late '80s. They apparently run off the alternator, but I'm unable to find anything saying whether they connect to the stator wire...

    More tach pics Here's a picture of the back of the tach, after I took it out of the mounting cup. No dip switches that I can find. The blue thing is the holder for the lightbulb, and the blurry silver spots are philips head screws.
