Excuse to go for a long cruise in the truck- priceless ;)
I actually dont know what the cost of diesel is at right now since i havent driven the truck in a while- it gets stored for the winter (rather custom) but likely about the same as you.
On a side note i burn quite a bit of WVO as well...
Hmm, thats an idea. I need to get the one done in the next week or 2- its my brothers and has had the pump replaced so it is likely out by a bit. Mine on the other hand worked great last year and has only had the pump off and reassembled to original location, so it should be close. I think i...
Anyone in Ontario- preferably near hamilton- have an injection pump timing setup? I am willing to drive a bit and pay. I have 2 trucks that have had the pumps off/replaced that i would like done.
I just ordered a converter from them too! Quite excited to be able to do some real towing with my rig this year sometime.
Milt was helpful in deciding which converter to go with- i am going to be using a single disc with rv stall (400rpm lower stall) along with a transgo tugger kit.
Fronts are polished, rears are started to be cleaned up for polishing but not finished. Someday i will get time to finish them up, but lots of other stuff to take care of first.
Did not want a black frame since it would be too dark (although the paint was suppose to be a darker gray, but wasnt...
Correct on the wheels being milled alcoas.
As for tires, i'm not really sure where the (mis)conception about riding bad came from. It rides the same as it did on 16's (i ran those for the first little bit) I think most people have really low profile tires on cars that have harsh suspension to...
The frame is in gray paint, and will be staying that colour. There will be a tool box that is the height of the rear window, from the cab to the suspension mounting bar.
The airride raises it about 10inches, so no worries on ride height.
Tires are 255/30zr24 rear and 255/35zr22 in the front.
Its running and driving, with minimal problems so far. I have put 100kms or so on it. Working out the issues as they come up. Its quite a bit of fun to drive, and should become more so as i get comfortable with it.
Solution we found for my brothers truck is full custom frame with custom control arms, much more fun :sly
Front beams are generally too high to lay all the way without clearance issues. My truck runs a custom solid beam with older e350 spindles that have kingpins. The beam hangs low to clear...
Viairs are great pumps. I have used them and many people i know have used them. When taken care of properly they work for a long time- you cant run undersized wiring to them though, or they will burn out.
I LOVE that truck. Always wanted to build a layed out crew cab dually on milled 22.5's. Only problem is it doesnt lay all the way. At a quick glance it looks like he ditched the Ibeams too (no crazy camber)
As for your questions- go with double bellow bags rated at minimum of 2600 lbs all the...
I will try get some video of it eventually, but then again i have been saying that about the car for a couple years now too.
The roads around here are decent, not great, but the suspension should take care of things before i feel it. Besides the car rides great and it has 25 series tires on...
It should ride very well, hopefully. Due to the size of the airbags in it i will be able to drive at low pressure for a decent ride height. I'm actually more worried about it being 'floaty' but the rather large shocks should take care of that.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
One picture for now. Should look much better with doors and headlights aseembled as well as the polished stainless bumper built and on.
Looks like progress will need to wait a little bit- its at my parents house and they live right behind a propane depot, well it caught fire today and everyone...
It will still get head studs before the boost and fuel get turned up- i cant take a risk of getting stuck somewhere halfway across the continent. It will be hard on everything towing heavy up big mountains (thus the massive intercooler and trans cooler as well)
I do feel safe running stock...
No studs yet, thus boost pressure being left lower for this year.
One thing i have learned from previous big projects- dont change everything at once. I know the driveline worked well when removed so i want to leave it mostly as it is- it removes another variable for getting the kinks worked...
Reallistically i want to stay in the low teens for boost pressure, possibly a little lower to start with. It will be experimentation from there but not until after i put some miles on to work out any potential bugs.
All charge piping is 3.5" as well as the intercooler and intake hat.
