    I did not read this whole thread, the new delphis are junk, The stanadynes are definately sub par from the old days, thats why I quit selling them. I now build my own with new tips. Once the tips are worn you cant easily make them new again. https://russrepair.com/

    Tear it clear down, metal gets in strange places. Haul it up here , I have a clean spot. and gaskets Brakleen works wonders for getting metal out of nooks and crannies.

    The 12-point bolts are grade 12 that's why they can take the higher torque.

    and yes you can use a regular fine thread grade 8 bolt no washer use a drop of blue loctite, torque to 18 foot-pounds you'll be fine

    I use hydrotex MTP ultra it's pink I can get the grade or a picture of the tube if you like I pack my bearings 14 years ago, 5 years ago I put new rotors on didn't touch the grease just put the hubs back on it still looked brand-new with no discoloration and it's a one ton four wheel drive.

    From my ford mechanic, not technician. The powerstroke defuels a tiny bit during gear changes, nearly imperceptible, thats why they last better in stock stroke applications, ..The idi doesnt defuel. Hes the trans guy at a BIG truck dealer and they came up with this. Just more tidbits
