Thank you for the response, but that sounds a little more than I'd like to take on.

    WTB Crew Cab

I need to buy a crew cab IDI. The ones around here are a mess, and I can't seem to find any to buy. Preferably a 7.3 turbo truck. If you have one, I'd love to see it. If you know where one is, I'll pay a finders fee for the right truck.

    6.9 Pump Timing

Nice, that's exactly what i was looking for. one thing that I forgot to mention. Even when the EGT's were high, the coolant temp never went up. Do I advance till the coolant temp starts to come up under load, then back it off a little?

    6.9 Pump Timing

it was smoking, not heavy, but just enough that I could see it with the left side mirror. which way do i turn the pump for advance? How far should it turn it? My problem is that this is a pretty useless truck if it can't pull a small load like that. There's gotta be a way to get more power out...

    6.9 Pump Timing

I rebuilt this motor some time ago, but yesterday was the first chance I had to really tow something. It was a 5000lb 5th wheel. Well, the EGT's ran at about 1000 degrees and it had a really hard time maintaining highway speeds. I set the pump loke the manual said, but with the high exhaust...

    Rear main seal woes

I was finishing my rebuild today and went to put the rear cover on when i noticed this. It looks like I may have rubbed it when turning the crank over. My question is, it looks like this is a sleeve that is pressed on. if that's the case, can I get a new one and have a machine shop do the crimp...

    Crap, Trans problems

Nice! I know how to check the TPS, but how do you check the tach? I assume it sends out a pulse that can be seen on a scope? Is this what limp home mode is?

    Crap, Trans problems

I have a 89 E350 Ambulance that the over drive light just came on. It's not the normal green that is is when I push the button to kill the high gear, this time is amber. It won't go into first, and I have to pull it down into second, or it tires to start off in third. Overdrive is totally inop...

Ok, kust left the shop and showed him the picture. He admitted his mistake and told me to bring it back. If they messed this up, how do I know the rest of the motor is correct? Also, I bought the ARP studs, they should be here in about 5 days.

I will bring this up as well. Thank god for you guys, I don't know what would have happened if I assembled it this way, but didn't want to find out.

Does it say on the side of the piston? I looked at the underside of them and it just has part numbers, no arrow or any indication for piston alighnment. I'm going back to the machine shop today to see if they know anything. Oh, and the pistons protrude above the deck a little to, is this normal?

I just got my 6.9 back from the machine shop. Ready to assemble, I'm wondering if it would be better to stud it, or pay the $216 for the factory bolts. Also, is this the block with the cracking problem around the block heater? http://s576.photobucket.com/albums/ss207/nightrunner84/

    Truck Died while warming up

yea, I think I'm gonna pull it and have the rotating parts gone through at the machine shop. how much does a moose pump cost?

    Truck Died while warming up

yea, the stock guage was bad when I got it. So I put a mechanical one one it. I know it has no oil pressure since it didn't blow any out when I took the filter off and started it.

    Truck Died while warming up

Well, with 169k on the the motor, I might as well send it out to have the rotating assembly. How much is a moose pump?

    Truck Died while warming up

yea, I know it has to come out. I was just in denial for a while. How hard are parts to get for these things?

    Truck Died while warming up

the oil is the same type that has always been used in this motor. it has 169k on it now.

    Truck Died while warming up

I don't know. Maybe I can lift the motor and sneak it out with the excess clearance. How can the screen be plugged, there's no trash in the oil filter?

    Truck Died while warming up

I never checked that guage when I started it. I have no idea if it had oil pressure. With no distributor, what drives that oil pump?
