    Head bolt block thread

Read the whole thread " ARP STUD INSTALL BLOCK THREAD FAILURE " and so no mention of another possible cause. ARP now uses the hex on top for finger tight installation. Is it possible PO did not install some full depth due to friction? Seeing how much stud protrudes thru nut before torquing...

    Slow braking at idle

While I drive an AT with both feet I realize most don't do this. If you are surprised by low braking effect due to low vacuum (worn pump. leak, etc.). Try this. Slip into neutral, push on brake with left foot and gun the gas with right. Speeds up vacuum pump and greatly increases stopping...

    RABS delete?

I am holding off on RABS delete until can test on snow this Winter. Did not get a chance last Winter since Teddy was waiting for emissions need to time out (grandfather). Now none of my wheels need emissions testing. Yahhh.

    Fan clutch upgrade...

Continuing work on fan clutch setup for main purpose of fixing leaky IDI version. Hope to get usable one at pick&pull tomorrow and run on spare motor with ac motor and serp belt. Pulled/replaced 3 times the leaker on Teddy and still not working right. Need more silicone oil and better way to...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

I believe film strength data wins. Have less than 100 miles on last oil change, 15W-40, and no need for thinner oil if using pump (accumulator 3qts doubtful enough) so will press on with 15W-40, limited winter use (planned), block or lower hose heater (planned) and battery warmer (like on MB).

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Oh, I get it, must be sleepy. You tore it down 18 months after it threw the rod and it sat idle for 18 months. Says more about the oil than IDI construction but good anyway.

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Was not sure on oil used but found partial jug, 15-40 Rotella T so will change to 10-30 tomorrow and retry. And I have a different place to put the oil in (and take it from). Will check out the Alliexpress pump, thanks for link. Not sure, Macrobb, what you mean. Threw rod after dry start or...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Your right, was planning on one pump or accumulator for start/stop (+ have another job possible for pump), secret until it works:D

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Thanks but found them and looking for something more in line of surplus / overstock (cheaper), but may have to go this way for pressure. More like this I might try for $90. Brand: SZMWKJ Model: MOI-0105 Rated Voltage: DC 12V Adaptable Voltage: DC 11-18V No Load Current: 4A Working Current...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Same here, cheapest 3 qt Accusump @ $220 on fleabay so thought to try just holding FSO closed until cranking speeds up (but no speed up). Wanted to change oil/filter anyway so will try 5-30 and try to drain oil cooler / flush pan also. Accumulator better since would work for both shut down and...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

I have a real gauge and video today it sat on zero until she started (cranking did not speed up like day before). Overnight @ 45F and yesterday @ 60F so maybe should change oil to 10-30 and try again. Don't remember whether gauge pressure or electric but will find out, maybe capillary tube...

Thanks Wes, but I think I'm done looking for a cheap/good db2. Will send my spare off for some love.

Your welcome, sorry it did not fix problem. My parts are waiting patiently until priming and fan clutch problems gone.

    NEW DB2 PUMP

Question for Wes, or whom ever, maybe of some general interest. Friend has new in wrap from FORD a db2-4821 for couple hundred. Is this a 8cyl x 4 x .21 plunger pump? Too much to use as just a core so would it flow significantly more than my current, no problems, db2831? Also have a spare...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Noticed while priming that spins faster after couple seconds cranking (oil pressure starts up). Would wear be improved by use of accumulator/lube prime pump or could I just keep shut off solenoid off until I see oil pressure (starts first compression anyway so still using single battery).

    Maybe a 911?

Oreillys has a Pennzoil 19400 for $8 or so that stands vertical alongside filter and uses 1/2" ratchet. Takes little space and works great. Now in truck box. Watch the bandanna trick video for no tools removal idea also.

    6.9 idi coolant drain

Would not hurt to keep track of how much you drain and pour back 1 gal of pure into water pump (remove top plug) or top radiator hose (if thermostat removed). Not into radiator. Would guarantee no more than slushy.

    BAD HOSE CLAMPS

Tried 3 different sizes from this kit and none worked well. Tight enough to not leak and started to go D shape and leak. A little tighter and strip out slots so will not release. Further loosening and screw backs out due to no thrust shoulder. Look like stainless but plated mild steel so...

    Sad (sort of funny tho)

Should have known better (do now) but went into local FORD stealership and asked service writer if they had any techs that could time an "IDI 7.3". "I have plenty of techs that can time that". How much? Starts typing and asks year. I tell him "93 7.3". He says, "that's a diesel, I don't...
