Oil on dipstick doesn't look right

That's what i'd do, it sucks to throw out 2 gallons of fresh oil, but just incase that's somehow leftover from your old pump it's better to try that than jump right in and tear the engine apart. You mentioned that the oil was a bit chocolately before you changed pumps, and that your oil change...

Oil on dipstick doesn't look right

Oil cooler, head gasket, or cracked block are the 3 main causes of chocolate milk I believe. If you had chocolate milk before replacing the water pump, those 3 become more likely. But since you just did the waterpump, thats a possibility too, but that would only be through those 4 bolts as far...

Oil on dipstick doesn't look right

That dipstick is supposed to be for oil, not chocolate milk. Change that oil asap, and if it becomes chocolate again you've got a problem on your hands.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I haven't been using my truck much, it's had a battery drain issue and if I leave it alone for a week it won't start. When I last tried to jump it, it was so dead even my jump box couldn't get it going, so it's been dead for a while. Day before yesterday I pulled the batteries out (they...

Looking to get into an IDI -

"70K miles" and with ugly aftermarket wheels, tint, and cap, AND the C6 transmission, for 16K? OH HELL NO.

Looking to get into an IDI -

If its not some low mile garage queen / barn find / time capsule, there's no way I'd ever consider 16k for one of these trucks, especially if that automatic transmission is the C6. You can get any cheap IDI truck and put a fresh engine, trans, fuel system, and turbo in, and pay someone to do it...

    D 60 swap

I didn't do the swap on my truck personally, I had a member here do it for me, so my knowledge isn't first hand and may be inaccurate. However, i've been told that the F-250 frames already have all the holes required for a D60 pre-drilled, so no notching should be required. But both my truck and...

    D 60 swap

This might not be the full list, but I know some of the special items you want to do the swap correctly are gonna be: - GET THE LEAF SPRINGS. Too many people do this swap, keep their TTB springs, and wonder why it rides awful and has death wobble. Take the leaf springs with the axle, it's part...

    Unique Modifications

LMC Truck has good replacement headlight housings, both OEM style and clear style. You can get LED, HID, and projector type housings from other places if those are your style, but if you want the stock or stock-ish look then LMC is the way to go.

    6.9 & 7.3 IDI Commandment Lists - IDI Do’s and Don’ts

Do: Only use ZD9 glow plugs Change the oil Spend the rest of your money fixing the truck, not the engine Don't: Look at the return lines, or else they will leak Buy Autolite glow plugs Mix ether and glow plugs Put gas in it Expect to pass anyone

Tightening alternator and vaccum V belts on 7.3 al

No, it's tight, and i've never had a reason to loosen its bolts. The happy spot for the alternator belt tension is also the happy spot for the vacuum pump belt tension, or at least that's been the case on my truck.

Tightening alternator and vaccum V belts on 7.3 al

For the alternator, use a long pry bar and get the end underneath the alternator body and push it up. You'll find a spot on either the alternator bracket itself or the thermostat housing to use for leverage. It's a two handed job, one to work the pry bar and one to tighten the bolt when it's...

    Anyone proactively replace parts?

My VW is one of the Dieselgate dealer buyback cars, 2012 model year Passat with all the fixes. Everything is intact since it has to be smogged, if I lived in America I would delete all that junk, tune it, and probably get 50mpg out of it with more power and less throttle lag. It gets 42-45 MPG...

    Anyone proactively replace parts?

My VW gets serviced strictly by the book, every 10K miles it gets whatever the book says plus whatever other repairs come up. I drive it almost 1K miles a week so I need to keep it happy. My IDI I bought with 293K miles on it, it's about to hit 330K and still on the original engine. So...

    What else do you drive?

My 92 IDI was my daily driver for 7 years, but my commute was only 1.5 miles one way every day. This February I bought a 2012 VW Passat TDI, with the intention of road tripping everywhere since 40-45 MPG lets you get ANYWHERE cheap. Then in May I moved away and my daily commute became 130 miles...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I feel ya there, brother. I drove mine today up the road and back just to get the mail, it had been 2 weeks since i last touched the truck and she started right up. I went from a 3 mile daily commute to a 130 mile commute, so unless I've got a job for it my truck is just sitting collecting dust...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I'm genuinely curious, why would you do that? I went in the opposite direction and i've been absolutely loving the D60, i haven't missed the D50's turning radius one little bit :puke:

Isn't there a dorman replacement OD on/off button that comes with the bezel? Might be the easiest way to go.

"Engine Over Heat" light actually works, uh. . . oops?

If I remember correctly, IDI's work more or less like: 190-210: perfect, keep pushing 220: you're fine, but watch it and consider turning AC off if temps continue to rise 230: ease up, she's at the red line, but if it's stable you're ok. Watch CLOSELY. 240: pull over or lose your head gaskets...

    E4od Change shift points?

What voltage is your FLPS set to? My truck dumps in to 4th / TC locked right at 35mph. Last I checked it, my FLPS was set as close to 1.2 as I could get without actually hitting 1.2.

    Hydro Lock PSA

If you put a new seal on, make sure you test it with a bottle of water. I heeded the warnings here and replaced my cowl seal before it started leaking, but the new one didn't fit quite right and it leaked like a sieve. I had to use a RTV to get the new cowl seal to stop leaking.

intrest on a west coast memorial day bbq..

I was planning to go if the BBQ was still on, but life happens and I wouldn't be able to attend even if we weren't on lockdown. The other day my boss' sons were in a nasty car crash, they rolled their Mercedes 6 times, one got ejected out the rear window and the other is in a coma. :( Needless...
